The Disney Dish Thread

After Monday’s show, I immediately logged into my Disneyland app and put a two day ticket in my cart and left it there. I’m going in April and I need a sweet sweet pin code!

I haven’t made it to this show yet. You can get pin codes for tickets! Or is it for hotel stays if you have tickets in the cart? I do this with our online retailers, lol.

People are getting pin codes for DLR tickets specifically. You never know how they get them, bit showing Disney you are interested, but not buying, seems like a good start!

I had forgotten about the good old days of PIN codes! I know I used mine back in the day for POR and POFQ for like $180/night.

I realized I missed a survey from leaving tickets in my cart last month, so I’m trying again

Yes! Disneyland is notorious for those “why didnt you book/buy?”

@len please reassure Jim that he isn’t crazy! They replaced the rotary on the Cape at the Sagamore Bridge in 2006 with “the fly over.”

Sagamore Bridge and Traffic Rotary, Sagamore, Massachusetts | DPLA Sagamore Bridge and Traffic Rotary, Sagamore, Massachusetts | DPLA

I wouldn’t say it was necessarily because people didn’t know how to use a rotary but like 95% of traffic just wanted to get straight on the bridge! It was a huge improvement!

I was listening to this week’s episode of the Disney Dish. In the opener @len mentioned Diwali. I had a friend send me an Instagram story yesterday about Disney’s Diwali celebration.

She was so excited they did this.

I’m pro- any holiday that involves food and/or sparkling lights.

I saw a number of guests this weekend walking around with Diwali t-shirts on. That was great to see.

I’m curious why they had it this weekend instead of next weekend? Maybe more people could come because of the long weekend.

I know Diwali is usually Oct or maybe Nov, but I love the nod to Diwali in the Animal Kingdom holiday decorations. Night time in that area may be my favorite place in all of Disney Parks.

I’m behind on the podcast and just finished ep 550.

I thought I’d help Len and Jim out with their question about the phrase “fix your face”. As a lifelong Texan, who is maybe not exactly southern, but more southern-adjacent, I do have an answer for you. “Fix your face” means that your face currently has an inappropriately angry or upset expression on it, and you need to replace it with a neutral or pleasant expression. (I say this phrase to my kids occasionally when they are displeased with something I have just said to them or told them to do. Fix your face and go do what I said.) So the lady in question from Len’s story either needed to fix her face from how she was looking at the waiter, or from what her elder said to correct her. She was probably not happy about being called out for drooling over the waiter in front of her man. Look happy before you go back to the table. Hope this helps! @len

I’m a midwesterner living in the Northeast, and I thought it was that the Mom/MIL noticed that the daughter’s DH was not pleased with the ogling and drooling over the waiter (or the M/MIL simply thinks it’s inappropriate) and the M/MIL provided the rebuke and corrective action. The polite Southern version of “Do I need to knock that look off your face?”

I’m curious if “Fix your face” applies to either gender, or if there is a masculine version? The version I grew up with applied to both.

Thank you for this @bluebird32 !

I have also heard “fix your face” to mean touch up your makeup, typically after something that would have messed it up like crying. So in general “set your face to be presentable” and usually said to women, but no reason it can’t be gender neutral!

It can be applied to anyone, but it’s probably more commonly used among and towards women. We can be very…expressive…with our faces. lol I haven’t heard men use it personally.

My other favorite Southern phrase is probably “That dog won’t hunt.”

RE: Magical Express luggage service

“Drop my bag in Manchester and never see it again until it hits my resort” - Is Jim implying that this is not indeed exactly what happened for years? I listened twice and he seems to think it got shut down by the airlines?

This was definitely a service that existed in the past. I can’t remember if it started with Magical Express or if it predates Magical Express. I probably have an old luggage tag from back then stashed away somewhere.

Fully agree, I’m just confused if Jim didn’t think that it actually existed?
