The Disney Dish Thread

I loved the interview on today’s episode with Don Hahn and Christopher Merritt! I love Disneyland history and am excited to read this book. Just added it to my Christmas list. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

@len does theme park attendance include the water parks? I ask because you guys were mentioning that they have fewer levers to pull on the park ticket front (come back 4 park magic ticket!) but the “free” water park ticket definitely has to have artificially inflated attendance over the last few months. That’s a “visit” that I would think most families would not have taken without the promo.

Very good point! A way to discount tickets without it showing up in ticket prices directly.

Honestly it came to me because I’m going to take advantage of it and I don’t think we would have even gone to WDW otherwise. They got 2 hotel nights out of me too!

Good point. I don’t think Disney’s theme park numbers include water parks, but I’ll check.

The numbers I have for Universal say VB is down though.

VB is expensive!

I had never been to a WDW water park in all my 15 years of consistently visiting until June when it was free.

I also think it’s possible that people are taking advantage of the summer deals on the hotels but cutting back the number of park days they’re spending at Disney World. That’s another way of saving money that would account for park attendance being flat while hotel occupancy is up. We love to talk about ways to spend a resort day around here. Maybe more people are doing things like that to save on the expense of park tickets?

That has been my modus operandi the last few years.

Our kids are no longer kids and as they got older we all discovered we all really appreciate hang out resort time - but I’m also not up for throwing a few thousand $ at tickets every trip, so we’re more focused now: full on park days every 2 or 3 trips, otherwise a targeted day and/or a party day.

I’m hoping to do the RunDisney Princess half marathon in 2027, and I’m honestly leaning towards not getting park tickets. Go down for the weekend, run the race, and then relax and make use of resort amenities.

Plus, the races are expensive enough

I’m unable to get the Disney Dish to play this evening, regardless of which Podcast Directory I go to. Anyone else having difficulty or is it something on my end?

I was able to play it today on Apple’s Podcasts app.

I listened to it this morning on Apple as well.

I keep getting a “cannot be played on this device” message on Apple Podcasts on my iPhone, also getting it for previous episodes I tried just to check. Not sure what’s up.

I couldn’t play it last night or today on Spotify. There is just no sound. But other episodes work.
