Thanks for finding that!
Priceless!
Not to brag or anything, but just thought I’d mention that I had a long-time Bandcamp subscriber shout-out on the latest version of The Disney Dish. This was my second time, so it totally took me by surprise. Definitely brings a smile to your face when it happens.
Congrats! It happened to me a few weeks ago and I felr very special!
Congrats! I haven’t listened yet but I’ll keep an ear out for the chore Len has you doing.
HINT: It involves balloons. Maybe not the type you think of first at WDW.
Is this referenced in this weeks show? I eventually quit on it since it was allll about a universal survey but I’ll go back and pick it up for this
No I just thought it was the best place to highlight Len’s hijinks.
But this week’s show was interesting! They talked about Reedy Creek and also about how Walt Disney made an agreement to allow the company to use his name for royalty fees.
I’ll have to go back
That survey just went onnnnnnnnnn and onnnnnnnnnnnn and onnnnnnnnnn
(actually they kind of all do lately it seems)
I think Len has a bit of a survey fetish.
They certainly can be interesting and enlightening.
I’ve sent him a few screen shots from new to me questions I’ve had and he replied with some funny observances!
I think the questions Universal are asking about Disney are interesting.
I did too! Also loved the part about Lillian Disney 's unannounced visit to DL.
Same! The surveys are one of my favorite parts of the podcast.
The Disney Dish is never as good when Len is out, but I’m glad I listened because I learned about this made-for-tv movie about Annette Funicello. It is very melodramatic and even cringe-worthy, but there is an appearance a couple of times by an actor portraying Walt Disney (which is why Jim talked about it).
About the 15:30 mark, Walt tells Annette she will be a Mouseketeer and gives her a tour of the lot:
At 20:45, she tells Walt she wants to change her last name.
At 25:57, Walt signs her to a recording contract.
At 45:00, Walt talks to her about her new movie. In his office there is an Epcot model with Spaceship Earth that wouldn’t have existed yet (the moment Jim talked about):
Annette herself also appears as herself throughout as the narrator. The effects of her MS were already quite severe at this point.
When Len was talking about outdoor dining on today’s show, was that his complete list, or just the highest rating? I was surprised I didn’t hear Wine Bar George. Did I miss it, or it didn’t make a list? I know Frontera Cocina wasn’t mentioned too but I don’t know how popular that is.
I think he just threw out a few examples that were highly rated – I didn’t catch if they were highest rated in the survey or if he chose the ones to mention because he personally liked them, too. I remember he mentioned Jaleo and Three Bridges and then I think he said Paridiso 37 was always crowded but had low ratings.
