Ah the Cars Road Trip at DLP! One of the few rides that we did more than once. 3 times I believe? They just loved the catastrophe canyon part! I thought I had a better picture.

This was always the best part of the backlot tour. That said, I have watched POV videos of the DLP version and the rest of it is sad looking.

Oh I wasn’t kidding about the 5 dollars! But my kids were little at the time and there was so little Cars stuff that they loved it. Better than Autopia that we waited SO SO long to ride!
The one thing that I thought they did well was that the on-ride video was in both French and English without subtitles and you could completely understand without knowing both languages.

On the most recent Disney Dish (or was it the one before? I was on a work trip for a week and days have run together) a reader sent in a Hersheypark survey. If we’re doing Hersheypark stuff I can comment and send in surveys all day every day! I get a lot of surveys since I’m a passholder, although most of them are pretty basic.

I love that I found this now…I started listening to the podcast recently and have been trying to listen chronologically. It’s amazing how the goalposts change over time and sometimes I want to say to the hosts (ca. 2011), “hold onto your hats”! Wild how ancient it sounds listening to mentions of the old free fast pass machines and such. And there was one episode of a lot of talk about next gen stuff that was going to revolutionize the Pirates queue. I don’t think that one ever happened though! Anyhow I look forward to catching up and checking in on this thread!

So it was news to me that Jim said the second ride in Piston Peak appears to be modeled after the ride system for Quatre Roues Rally in Disney Adventure Park in Paris. I had never heard of that, so I found this video:
It seems like it packs a punch for a little carnival ride–maybe even a little more wild than ASS / Mater, but hopefully it will be a little bigger than this version. The theming definitely looks more immersive, so hopefully that will help it feel not so lame.
