I just want Tatooine.
That (star)ship has sailed, I’m afraid. (Not that I don’t agree with you…isn’t Batuu basically just Tatooine, but with some mountains in the background?)
This isn’t necessarily problematic. I mean, we know that popular songs reach a status where people all over hear them, play them, sing along with them, etc. So, the Cantina band on Tatoonine probably plays a selection of galactic pop songs. The same songs would be known across the galaxy!
$4,000?!? YIKES. I live in San Diego, so 2 hour drive. We’ve done a week at WDW in that price range with careful planning. Going this fall.
Without airfare, I can do DL for under $2K for 2 days, but anything longer than that and I can see how it could get up to $4K with airfare.
It’s getting harder to do it that cheap with the price of tickets these days!
And the price of hotels is creeping up too.
I did the quick math:
4 hotel nights - $1200
3 day single park, no LL ticket - $940
2 plane tickets - $800
Food at $75 per person per day - $600
Transport to and from airport - $150
That’s $3690. I know those dials can move up or down (down seems to be less and less these days) but this seems to be the range.
Note - I feel like this is everywhere these days. I booked a NYC weekend in December for my birthday/Christmas present. The same hotel is 2.5 times more expenaive than the same weekend in 2021. I spent a couple of hours finding a place that was only 1.8 times more. I looked at 2017 prices, the delta with 2021 prices was $35 per night (after taxes).
Remember when the NYC hotels were “cheaper” on the weekends??
I was just shocked when I checked my two hotels that were typically the best “deal” and the per night cost before taxes and fees was more than two nights total in the past.
If I hadn’t already bought the show tickets I might not be going.
I am going to call this somewhat Disney related since seeing Tom Hiddelston in a show is the main driver of the trip.
I think we are going to drop the show from the itinerary ![]()
Those prices were bad enough. I definitely didn’t add a show! The last 3 rows of orchestra drop in price significantly.
Nooooooo!
I’m so torn. My MIL literally only wants to see the High Line. DS10 wants BOTH the Tenement Museum and the Met. I just don’t know if they will appreciate/last for a real Broadway show. I think maybe DH and I will just find a time for the two of us to go another time.
Incoming weekly fact check:
Susan Egan is NOT the voice of animated Belle but the voice of animated Megara and Broadway’s Belle! Paige O’Hara has the honor of the animated title. (And Susan has the honor of having had me see her in person!)
I thought maybe there was an extra Beauty & the Beast direct to video movie that I had missed! I knew Susan Egan was Megara but I didn’t know she originated Belle on Broadway.
Hahahaha that was also sort of what I was expecting too. The way he said it, she was the voice of Belle on the animated…
But I had this CD for years!
I just went back to the transcript because I knew there was something I wanted to mention. At the beginning of the show they mentioned that V&A is the only Michelin Star restaurant.
Here is the list of awards from the dvcfan post
I think it is interesting that after Capa lost their star, they are rated the same as Ravello. My earlier dinners at Capa were amazing but my last visit, was just kinda weird. I love Ravello.
We really, really enjoyed Morimoto Asia! I had no idea it was Michelin Recommended.
Morimoto Masaharu had picked up a Michelin Star for Atelier Morimoto XEX in Tokyo back in 2008. The star has since been taken away. But with the level of skill required to even have 1 star in your life, the rest of his restaurants have some high standards to keep.
