what was wrong with Hotel Cheyenne?? That is still one of our favorite Disney hotels. I thought Santa Fe and Sequoia were glorified tenements when we were there.

Laurel and I get to the room. We plug our voltage converters into separate outlets. We plug in our phones, and immediately a shower of flames and sparks shoots from the outlets up the walls. Like, two-foot long black soot. Fried our converters, which had worked throughout the trip to that point.
Went to do some laundry and there was exactly one working washer and no working dryer. It didn’t matter because the token machine was broken, and there was a handwritten sign directing people to the front desk, where nobody knew what I was talking about or what to do. We ended up going into town to do laundry.
The bathroom was configured so you had to stand behind the toilet to open the door to get out. It was so small the first thought I had was “how can I make this even smaller?”

I’ve often wondered why they just don’t move it.
Didn’t they also move Festival of The Lion King? Or did they just adjust how you enter?

I’m still back in 2013 on my listen-through of the Disney Dish, but if they haven’t already published, I submit that Jim Hill’s memoir should be titled something like “More to the Point: . . .” Len’s can be “That’s Fantastic!”

LOL - I have never listened. I tried to yesterday, but the commercials at the start were off putting. We pay for Amazon Music, but it still had ads. And then Jim started with an ad. Where to others listen? Do you also have ads?

I’m listening via my iPhone (podcasts app) - I listen when I drive. There are a few ads but I skip as well usually. There may be more ads on the older episodes through too - not sure!

I often listen while doing chores and my hands aren’t always available.
It just bugs me. Paying subscriptions was supposed to take the place of ads…. Now we pay twice. But it’s not Disney Dish’s fault.

The ads also drive me crazy lately. They are long and there are a lot of them. I used to be a bandcamp subscriber but that app was terrible. I was a Patreon subscriber for a while but it didn’t feel valuable since you have to be a higher tier to get the “bonus” episodes. I mostly listen in the shower and I cannot fast forward on my shower speaker. It’s annoying.

Same. Apple Podcasts via CarPlay when I’m driving. I just skip them with the 30 seconds button.

I have my pocketcasts app download the episodes to my phone, so no pre-pended ads like Amazon apparently is doing.
For all podcasts, I have Pocketcast app set up so that the back button rewinds 60 seconds and the forward button skips 20 seconds.
That way if I miss something, I can go back then forward and not be in the exact same place again. Added bonus is many embedded ads in podcasts seem to be 20 seconds or a multiple of that, so I can just do a quick skip - skip and be on the other side.

Interesting - how long ago was this? I’ve stayed here often and as recently as Nov 2025 and the bathroom isn’t anything like that. It’s not huge, you understand, but it’s FINE. The hotel itself is so lovely and being able to walk to and from the parks is amazing! I’ve stayed at the Santa Fe too, also recently, and this one is pretty good for us too. I can’t say I’ve had issues with the electrics at all and we don’t stay long enough to do laundry… but we have discovered the free hot chocolate at the vending machines - other drinks are available too, but we’ve never dared to try the soup as it is just weird.

Another Pocketcasts user here but I will say… we definitely get fewer ads in the UK. If I ever happen to be in the USA when a new podcast ep downloads, I get the full experience with So. Many. Ads. The fun part is when I’m in other countries and then the ads are in totally different languages!
