Starlight: Dream the Night Away parade debuts July 20th

This is why the first thing I did this morning after switching my hotel reservation, was switching my AP park reservation to MK for the 21st. I know how Disney works!

Hopping is still allowed as long as they don’t hit capacity. So probably wise to have the MK reservation on the 21st, but I doubt it will be a huge deal after the first few days.

Because I will be traveling with people with 1 park per day passes, I didn’t want to risk anything! I can see it in the future, and honestly, the park would probably much more pleasant on the 19th, but I really love parades.

I really hope the music is great.

I hope this parade is similar to Magic Happens. That one is so amazing and the east coast parks need something like it.

I 100% agree. I was watching paint the night yesterday, I know people love it (and I really liked it when I saw it), but it made me realize how much I love the Magic Happens, particularly the Soundtrack (and the dancers).

Thank you! So far so good!

Is the nighttime parade usually before or after the fireworks? I can’t recall… seems like it should be before.

That’s the kicker. What is usual? When I saw MSEP in July 2016, MK closed at 11pm, Wishes was at 9:00 and MSEP was only at 10:00. But who knows how they will do things now, since the park is listed as closing at 10:00 this July (for now). There’s speculation they might run the parade twice, once before and once after the fireworks.

It’s quite possible it could have a few runs before the 20th. But if you can change your dates I would. It would be awful to miss out when changing is a possibility.

I am considering not renewing my annual pass now because of this. I have a week long vacation planned starting August 2 and it looks like I can’t ever park hop into Magic Kingdom during my trip.

This should not be fine print just in the details of this show. This should be an email or notification blast to all AP holders.

I would be pissed if I found this out day of and hadn’t had a ressie

Scott Gustin has reported that park hopping is still allowed.

Looks like he was unclear about that to start with

What provided clarity? I don’t see any changes to the language?

Not that this impacts me at all :frowning:

It says make a Theme Park reservation. Not make a Magic kingdom reservation

He also has in the past reached out to Disney for clarification on things so maybe he did in this case too.

The only thing that is really different about this is you can’t show up to MK after 2:00pm without a reservation and get in.

This makes me nuts- especially as an out of state pass holder staying on-site- just don’t see why this is still necessary. Each year now I debate whether or not to renew my AP. For me at least the pass has made sense up until this year.

I was really excited for the new parade and now very frustrated feeling like I need to jump through hoops. As soon as I saw the post I made MK reservations for every day of my trip so I don’t get shut-out. Had an 8 day DVC trip to OKW awhile back and I was shutout of EPCOT for most of the trip- park hopping was allowed but it made it impossible for VQs.

Since park reservations became a thing- the AP has still provided a decent value for me, but definitely it makes me less likely to stay on-site. The savings pretty much covers my AP renewal (Disney math)

Curious if anyone else feels the same?

We can’t justify the AP, but we did have one a year ago due to three trips in 12 months.

But it seems like they can eliminate reservations for the top tier AP at least. I can understand not wanting locals showing up and filling the spaces up. But maybe at least the people paying like $1500 should have some advantage?

Disney has grown increasingly ā€œhostileā€ toward AP holders from a pricing perspective. We already have seen it at DL that they don’t really ā€œlikeā€ AP holders. Crowds are such that Disney seems to wish existing AP holders at WDW to also quietly go away.

I get that for most things but honestly if they can figure out who is entitled to early entry vs evenings I am certain they have the technology to see onsite AP resort guests. I think local or not if an AP holder has on-site hotel reservations they should be able to move as freely as someone with a 10 day park hopper.

Good point.

The fact that this was an update makes me think he reached out.
