Soarin’ Across America

Well…yes…and…well…they failed at that as well. Again, in SoC, the footage was taken from ACTUAL hang-gliding and/or similar footage. But SatW feels even more fake because they have, as I mentioned before, you doing things like flying up INTO the Eiffel tower, or INTO a breaching whale, or INTO a plane in Sydney, etc. nothing about it feels like you are authentically hang-gliding. Almost every single scene takes me out of the experience and reminds me that it is…say it with me…fake fake fake!

Like I said, I enjoy the ride…but it will never come close to SoC for me in terms of overall experience because of the fakiness of the experience.

SatW feels real enough to me to be immensely enjoyable. I just find the California one boring!

me too! I have a photo of me in an old-timey dress with my cousin watching a bicentennial parade.

That’s fair. I mean, I personally don’t, but I can get behind why someone would feel that way. Seeing Orange groves may not be someone’s thing (and is really more about the immersion of the scents in that particular case).

I think that Soarin’ Across America has the potential to get it right on all accounts! There are so many beautiful elements to capture across our country…I just hope they really do actual footage like SoC, but amp up the interesting elements.

That is my DH’s exact opinion.

What? It’s fake?!?!?

I feel like a little kid who just found out Santa isn’t real! :sob:

No, no. Mommy and Daddy were just pretending.

The polar bear element makes me feel like I’m about to watch him pull out a bottle of Coca-Cola.

I usually assume “Summer” for new attractions at WDW means “September unless we somehow are able to open earlier.” For new attractions at Universal, I assume “Summer” means “May unless something drastic happens to cause delays.”

Except the free water park in 2026 is also for the “summer” and I’m actually really curious when that starts! Since usually the WPs switch over around the April timeframe.

Based on the teaser video, I think by July 4 for sure. They seem to be directly tying it to the country’s 250th.

Yes! Make the CGI animals more realistic! :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

With drones nowadays, there’s no excuse NOT to have actual footage.

I love that Disney is doing a NEW, previously unannounced change within a year! The nice thing about simulator rides is you can make these kinds of updates relatively easily. They are also adding Grogu to MFSR next May. Between that, Soarin’, and Zootopia, 2026 will be a decent time to catch new offerings while we wait for the big new lands to drop.

definitely.

All things being equal, this is less expensive than truly new items, but does give us something fresh in the meantime.

It’s becoming a bit of a thing for my older girls and I to do a quick summer mini-visit. I hope we get to see it.

A talking mouse, a duck with a sombrero, a dog driving a train. Fake.
Riding a banshee? Entirely fake!
Shrinking down to mouse-size? Eluding the First Order and visiting Batuu? FAKE! Fake fake fake!
