Am I the last one to know about this?
Like - I’M SO EXCITED!!!
This was only posted today so I am thinking most of us are seeing it for the first time
This is super awesome
But I will also look forward to getting back to world wide flights too - maybe those will be updated?
I love the Patrick video in that blog post!
Can we get someone to define “Summer 2026” for the love of man??
Hahahahaha.
For real.
That would be so cool.
Not that what’s been featured isn’t wonderful, but there’s a lot of world out there and some new scenes could showcase other places. ![]()
Definitely.
He really is a national treasure.
Me too ![]()
This is great! Can’t wait!
Here’s the Patrick video if you don’t feel like clicking through to the blog.

Ha! I’ve said for a few years now that Disney needed to create a Soarin’ Across America. (That exact name.) And…voila! Very cool. I hope they use actual footage this time, and not rely so heavily on CGI for their scenes, though. Lack of any significant CGI is what makes Soarin’ Over California so much better than Soarin’ Around the World. Half of Soarin’ Around the World is not even real footage.
Regardless, very excited for this!
(Wait wait. Limited time? Hmm. I won’t be going back until probably May 2027.)
I’m excited! I love both iterations of Soarin’ but I’m also up for a new experience. Keep things interesting. ![]()
I assume there won’t be a closure for this? They just need to swap the film.
Love this! but I don’t have a visit planned for next summer! What does limited time mean? For Disney that can be a couple months or a couple years!
That’s pretty cool, and what a great actor to talk about it. I cannot believe it’ll be 250 years! I remember when we celebrated the bicentennial. Gosh, I’m old.
Me too @SirGreggLadyV
I’m stoked after seeing so much about SC250 at the fair this weekend. We were one of the OGs.
Unpopular opinion: I love the CGI. The polar bears, the whales, the elephants.
I find it funny that so many people LOVE all the Disney artifice everywhere else in the Disney universe, but object that SatW is full of fakery!
When they swap out Soarin’ Over California at DCA, they typically do not need to close the ride. So it goes down as Soarin’ Around the World on one day, then the next Soarin’ Over California premieres.
That said, they need to swap out the film (which I assume is digital, but when it premiered in 2001 I wouldn’t be surprised if it was actual film! Attack of the Clones in 2002 was the impetus for the widespread adoption of digital cinemas), replace the scent cartridges, and update the computer that controls the ride movements to make sure it matches what is on the screen. I’m sure they have the program ready to go so it’s just a matter of telling the computer to use the new code. I have no idea how sophisticated their system is and whether they can do that remotely.
I don’t think anyone who is being honest with themselves dislikes CGI entirely. Just poorly executed CGI. And that depends on the eye of the beholder.
For me, the CGI is ok in some places but takes me out of the immersion in others. For example, I would rather see the imperfections of the area surrounding the Taj Mahal to feel like I’m really there than to see a sanitized version of it. The wonders of the world are stunning in their own right and don’t need to be doctored.
Adding a polar bear or whatever doesn’t bother me, but they could improve the execution.
My issue is that the POINT of the ride is to show us the world (or in the California case, show us California). Instead, they give us mostly CGI-generated versions of places, or add obvious CGI to the scenes that aren’t. THis is EPCOT, in The Land pavilion, on a ride that is about showing us the world. So…give us the world, please!
It isn’t just elements. The polar bears, the whale, the calving ice…it is ALL fake. The Taj Mahal? Entirely fake! Having us fly into the Eiffel Tower? The African Savannah and Elephants? Fake! Fake fake fake. Hard to find anything real in that thing. I enjoy it. But I love the realness of SoC much better.

I guess the point of the ride is different for me. For me, it’s the sensation of hang-gliding and swooping close to the thrilling sights.
