So can we talk about this DeSantis thing for a minute?

I’ve never been and you’re making me want to go so bad. Sounds delicious!

You can get good poboys in a gas station in NOLA. The food there is amazing pretty much everywhere you go but the ambience and feel of the city…fell in love instantly. I will admit I have a thing for jazz. Though I live and grew up in the live music capital of the world as the daughter of a musician who took me to live concerts since I was a toddler I prefer the jazz and old world feel of NO to my hometown. Make it a priority @looking_for_sunshine if you like good food and music.

Awesome planning, all great places!

Cajun food, YES! I actually can only do beniets every once in a while. Im not a big sweets person, lol. But I think our food is the best in the world. Thats why its hard for me to get excited about dining in other places. Unless its extremely culturally authentic to a particular place, I have yet to be wowed.

St. Marie and Maison Dupre are built over old cemeteries. They have the best ghost sightings!

A lot of the local bars are doing online free jazz performances by local artist.

I’d concur…Best food in the world in NOLA. And I like jazz fest better than ACL. I’m gonna be in so much trouble with my city. Lol.

We just flew back from MCO today and while it is still early with the moving to phase 3, the airport was no different than it had been when we arrived (which, frankly, was better than it had been when we were there in July!). MCO repeated the mask/social distance/wash hands message repeatedly while we were waiting for our flight. Hopefully that continues.

Disclaimer: I am from Texas and fiercely independent. I am an adult and can think for myself.

The fear surrounding this virus still astounds me. Im 61 hbp diabetic and have done s fair smount of travel in my days. Gone to places in africa where mslaria was prevalent, no issues(yes i took hydrochlotiquine) benn to china a cuuple of times, or than the food never had an issue. I’ve always made my own decisions and have a higher ridk tolerance than most. I think for myself and do what was best for me & family. If you dont feel safe, then choose to stay home. We are leaving for Disney on Sunday and am not the least bit worried.

That said Disney has serious evonomic issues. They cant continue to bleed billions of$$ and survive. We HAVE to open up or else we will not survive. This isn’t a money over life issue, its a money and life issue.

I applaud Desantis decision because no one has to go to Disney(ok…maybe i do) and if people are responsible (big if) u should be good. But If you dont feel its safe then dont go. My 2cents

I feel the same way. For example do any other New Yorkers wonder why we can travel to NYC and not have to quarantine upon return but there are 30 states we can not travel to including Florida. Speaking of Florida does anyone else wonder why Florida.gov reports that their COVID, 7 day positivity rate has been under 10 percent for over a month. Yet the Johns Hopkins numbers have never been under 10 percent for Florida. Why the discrepancy? Like I said i can think for myself. I know what’s going on here. Orlando here I come to unload my pocketbooks to support your businesses for future generations to enjoy. Of course I will wear a mask and follow all the rules and keep my distance too!

Its nuts that we can go to those hot spots in NYC freely and not quarantine but my family can’t travel to FL without having to quarantine for 14 days upon return. We traveled to WDW in September and felt safer in the parks than at my local supermarket. I did have to quarantine When I got home and received daily texts from DOH checking to see if I had symptoms.

We need to open up and get businesses going again. Wear a mask, wash your hands, social distance. I think DeSantis is doing a great job. I have another WDW trip planned for November and I think it’s ridiculous FL has yet to be removed from the NY travel ban as our numbers here continue to rise daily.

NY wants your sales tax revenue to stay home.

I don’t think its fair or appropriate to give DeSantus credit for the work Disney has done to keep their guests safe. DeS had nothing to do with safety measures in WDW or Universal. Those two parks are not following the current guidelines of the governor. Maybe you are unaware? .

That’s fair. But maybe he should get some credit for influencing/pushing the county to approve of a UOR opening in June and WDW in July and officially sign off on those himself. How many more jobs yet would Disney have cut? Compare that to California. But yeah, it will always be true that a governor will be given both credit and blame for things they shouldn’t just because it is happening in their state and they are ultimately responsible.

Along those lines, wasn’t it the unions, not Disney, that came up with most of the guidelines?
