Ooooo – the snack section of Costco is where @sanstitre_has_left_the_building needs to take his friends as part of their Walmart, IHOP tour. How many people can he get in on a gift card?
I can’t imagine there’s some kinda “limit” on a gift card. My assumption is they’d want to get as many shoppers in as they can to experience shopping, and hopefully join.
I’d absolutely LOVE to take them on a Costco clearance snack hunt. Some of the stuff I’ve seen…
You don’t need a gift card to get into Sam’s or Costco. You just need one to pay.
I can’t remember the last time I was carded on the way in. But even when they did you can say, “I am here for the drugs.” The medical stuff has to be open to anyone. I always actually had a membership, but as someone that is a bit leery of even legal medicine being able to say that amused me.
Sounds like it would need its own trip report ![]()
I’ve been to Costco and Sam’s Club a long time ago, it was eye opening!
Oh wow! We’re going in 27 days, so this is awesome to read the thread you guys and gals, thank you!
If we have a mini-fridge, it’s mini-snacks. If we stay off property with a kitchen (like this time around), there are more healthy food options b/e we know that there will be snacks, dinners out, etc, with plenty of calories and such.
Tiny Fridge & non-fridge snacks (Think Pop Century tiny fridge and pantry area above the coffee maker)
- Red pepper hummus
- Salsa
- Cracker cut cheese or bag o’ cheese cubes
- Small creamer
- Bag of pretzels or box of crackers
- Mini pitas or loaf of good-by-itself bread
- Pack of meat that comes in a tiny tub (like turkey in tupperware, can’t remember the brand)
- Pack of bottled water, seltzer water, and a gallon of distilled water
- Low Salt tortilla chips bag
- Whipped cream cheese
- Some energy drink for DH, some caffeine soda or tea for me
- Something local and sweet from PUBLIX (because it’s tradition!)
STAYING OFFSITE W/ KITCHEN - some of the above, but add the following
- Lots of eggs
- Healthy Bread loaf
- small olive oil or olive oil butter
- hot sauce (sm)
- A healthy pasta w/ a healthy sauce
- Salad bag & balsamic vinegar
- Some easy to eat fruit on the go
- Disposable coffee cups w/ lids to take touring
- Ginger ale and pepto (because park food is rich)
If I’m paying for the kitchen, we’re using it, and I’m making coffee to go. We have a purple box in Florida (owners locker) with some things in there we could use in either a POP room or one with a kitchen. Some things I have in the owners box that don’t go easily bad are:
- a mixed teabag box (especially for evening wind downs)
- first aid kit (blisters are frequent visitors, duct tape and moleskin are your friends)
- Scissors, note pad, pen and marker (to open packages, to leave notes for housekeeping, etc)
- Disney-only stuff (pin trading give aways, rain ponchos, deck of cards for rainy day distraction, room decor stuff for halloween, etc)
- Give away fun items for the CM’s - hand sanitizers, notes, stickers, fun things to say thanks
I’ll usually bring something snacky with us from home, like costco nuts in mini-bags that are easy to grab-and-go. Protein seems to be the cure for too-much-sugar, and it’s easy to satisfy and curb hunger as well.
Yay lists!!!
Barnums animal crackers - especially appropriate if staying at AK lodge
Sour Cream and Onion Lay’s Stax
The Aldi version of Lucky Charms (with paper bowls and plastic spoons and milk)
Swiss Cake rolls
Crunch N’ Munch
