Take my money!

Much as I have thought the same about Disney resorts.

For me this trip would be all about the excitement of being on a ship. Specifically a Disney ship. The fact that itā€™s a cruise to nowhere doesnā€™t matter. (Iā€™m reminded of the trips to nowhere on Concorde that you could take. Itā€™s literally all about the journey and not the destination.)

This may imply that I really need to not stay in an indoor cabin.

The fact it will be British weather is disappointing. Though occasionally the weather is nice during the summer.

I hope / assume thereā€™ll be enough things to see and do inside the ship that it wonā€™t matter. Three nights seems plenty. Two might even be enough depending on boarding and disembarkation times.

Do it. Canā€™t wait to think about the prospect of a cruise again.

Do not waste your precious vacation in a closet.

I think you should do it - itā€™s a way to get some Disney. DCL ships donā€™t have just one main dining room you go to each night. They have three different ones that you, and your wait staff, rotate through on the cruise. Plus there are upcharge restaurants you might enjoy. That would help add variety. No casinos.

Iā€™ve got a music cruise that was originally scheduled for 10/2020 thatā€™s been rescheduled to 11/2021 but itā€™s not looking great for that.

We loved our one and only Disney cruise on the Dream. I say go for it! Disney cruising does ruin you for other lines though. We have only been on one since the Dream (Alaskan cruise on Royal Caribbean) and it was about half as good (of course it also cost half the price of the Disney ships). This sounds like a great way for you to get a little Disney fun.

agreed. I did RC about a year or two after Disney and everything was ā€œDisney does this betterā€ from the gourmet meal to shows to the cleanliness and serviceā€¦edit: not just the gourment meal but the rotational dining is awesome and dressing up like a pirateā€¦the spa with the rainforest room. The ice cream shop themed to Vanellope (one of the best characters ever). I really want to go when the new ships come out.

Book Concierge to be pampered and privileged. Iā€™m not kidding.

Right?!?! I loved Concierge. but Iā€™d also do it without if it was out of budget. But we had the one bedroom suite (cuz of the kiddos and we wanted privacy and two bathrooms) and we had a GIANT jacuzzi tub and a normal hotel sized bathroom. It was pure luxury. And it comes with the good coffee in the lounge.

Iā€™m watching loads of YouTube videos but the whole time Iā€™m thinking: how do they make this COVID safe?

Thatā€™s how I feel about my Paris trip. :frowning: I realized when my grandparents, parents and in-law came over since they are all vaccinated and we could hang out that what I missed the most was our family get togetherā€™s.

But back to the future! DS, DH and I have vaccine appts for next week so let me in Europe and bring on the cruises!
Edit: and @sanstitre_has_left_the_building better do this one for us like weā€™re going to WDW multiples times for him

i think DH and I will do either a European or Alaska cruise to replace my lost birthday one

it will be good to have @sanstitre_has_left_the_building be our advance teamā€¦

Agreed, he should book a split stay half indoor cabin/half Concierge and do a comparison report for us.

Oh. Iā€™m total opposite. Smallest room available. I donā€™t spend time in my stateroom.

That said. The Magic has ā€œsecret porthole rooms.ā€ I snagged two in 2014.

Itā€™ll be fine.

Limited capacity (on the ship, and also in indoor facilities and tight spaces), masks, and they eliminate anything self-serve. Maybe they arrange deck chairs in pods and youā€™re assigned by your cabin. More sanitizer everywhere.

The problem is that if the weather is dull, everyone will want to be inside. How do they control the capacity as well as have things to do for everyone?

I looked on the website donā€™t see a huge amount of non deck activities for adults. How much space is there on board, how much lounge space and what else is there to do inside? I guess they could put on extra shows to run them all day. Has anyone been on the Magic and can attest to other options. I have visions of the restaurants being used for trivia quizzes.

I broached the subject with DH, who had already read about it. His first comment was I donā€™t know if Iā€™d be ready to risk it that soon. Even though weā€™d both be fully vaccinated by then.
