Yikes
I think they had to make up new colors to augment the scale!
Good news for the ferry service cancelled with low water levels
I mean⦠sure, but thatās insane
Hello! Weāre heading down to SSR right before Thanksgiving. This will be our first time at this resort. We usually stay at BLT so this will be a change. A few questionsā¦
- Which non-preferred buildings have a pool with both poolside dining and a playground? Trying to decide which building to request.
- Weāll have a car so buses not important, but weād like to walk to DS if possible.
- Quickest way to MK - is it car to TTC and then boat / monorail, or bus from SSR? Thanks so much!
As far as number 1, your best bet would probably be in The Paddock, possibly one of the two buildings flanking the pool. But for food, you will need to walk over the the main building in the Springs area.
The Paddock has a reasonable walk to Disney Springs for not being preferredā¦but, it is easy enough if you have a car to drive over to Congress Park and park and then walk over if you end up at the Carousel or the Grandstand areas.
I think driving to MK is much more of a hassle than just using the buses from SSR. We had no issues with the buses. Even when we had a car, we just used the buses for everything.
The Paddock does have food! It has the Paddock Grill and you can refill mugs there and everything. We LOVE the Paddock. There is a splash pad there too. The only thing I cannot remember is playground.
The map shows a playground near the Paddock pool!
I will maintain at a resort like SSR by the time you add in any wait for the bus at MK and multiple stops that itās a wash between bus/car and the car is much more comfortable!
Having just been to SSR, I would not stress too much about where you are assigned. The Paddock is great for pool and bar, but you can easily drive there from another section. And you can also drive closer to DS to walk the rest of the way.
So request what would be your ideal, but if youāre not assigned that, donāt be too disappointed. The resort is great because it is so sprawling and serene.
Oh! Completely forgot about that!
We do the bus. Get on at your resort. Get off at MK. Walk to security. Walk to tap styles. Walk into the park.
It could take longer. Itās simpler to my brain.
Weāre typically interested in RD, which was pretty easy at BLT - especially at MK! If we want to RD MK, how early do we need to line up for the first bus? And how often do the buses run? It sounds like the bus might be better bc we donāt have to queue at the TTC for a monorail or ferry.
I donāt know what time the very first bus is. But there is a liner spreadsheet where people log the earliest bus they catch, and it is usually between 6:45am and 7:00am at most resorts. Again, there could be a bus before that that these Liners just didnāt catch.
But if you show up between 6:30-6:45am, you will likely get on a bus that will get you to the park by 7:30am, which is plenty early for 8:30am EE RD at MK.
There might be some zealots out there with more first hand experience than me. I have never been on the first bus anywhere.
This is usually our goal. Itās very early. Which means slightly cooler temps in summer. Hardly ever are buses full. And we like early morning feel.
Zealot here on occasion weāve been first at a tapstyle. First at the holding rope before going thru into the Town Square. First family at Crystal Palace. Once we - meaning family but not me - 3rd and 4th and 5th on Tower of Terror. Only riders at that time.
I donāt think weāve ever been anywhere near first on anything at AK tho weāve arrived well before opening.
The general rule of thumb is 75-90 minutes before EE. 90 if you really want to catch the first bus.
The spreadsheet is no longer maintained, since the timing ended up being so consistent.
This is the only way we are able to survive August trips. Those early morning and late evening temps are the most tolerable of the day, so I will sacrifice sleep to be able to take advantage of them and then do midday breaks and/or naps during the hottest part of the day. Animal Kingdom hours just got updated to 7:30 am early entry for my dates, and I couldnāt be happier (although its harder to do a midday break there with the earlier closing time, but at least we can finish earlier and bail when it gets unbearable).
This is great info! Thanks so much!!
