First official Disney press release since the cancellation of the April 2016 opening. “2017” is certainly vague…

Guess I can go ahead and plan something else on the night I kept open in my touring plan hoping it would be open by the end of January. Super disappointing
Rivers of Light Dining Packages for Tiffins and Tusker House just became available starting March 1st. The Disney World schedule shows a first showing next Friday (2/17) at 7:15 pm.

There are some dates in February as well.
Thanks for sharing! I was able to book a ROL Dining Package for my trip in March. Even got lucky as ROL isn’t scheduled for every night, but it is scheduled for the night of my planned AK day, which means no FPP+ needed!
I had to swap days to be able to see RoL. Was a little tricky, but finally it all worked out somehow
Rather than completely tearing up our plans, we’re just adding an additional evening to Animal Kingdom with a dinner at Tusker House on one of our four Magic Kingdom days. (Three are now part-days with FastPasses.) River of Light isn’t offered on our Animal Kingdom day, and I simply didn’t feel like blowing the whole thing up at this point. We have Park Hoppers, so we’ll just slide it in.
When will the park hours and Rivers of Light be updated in the touring plans? @Lentesta
Hmmm. I went to the web page and it’s showing 7:15 for TONIGHT (2/10).
On TripAdvisor, they were speculating that tonight is a soft opening. FastPasses were available for it.
I thought tonight was only AP and DVC! They allowed FPs too! I hope there are lots of reports tonight!
Maybe I missed it but does anyone know if there will be multiple viewing areas for this? Should we use FastPasses for this?
There are two sections. Each section holds I think 2500? If it is popular you may need a FP or dining package.
Thank you! Appreciate the quick feedback.
The Asia side will be for FPPs, the Dinoland side will be for dining packages and standbys. Wisdom from the “inside track” is suggesting that only about 25% of the seats will be SB (assuming that FPPs and DPs are fully sold). As they move to two shows, and possibly three shows during peak seasons, these ratios might change.
I am here now and in River of Lights. Fast pass but Disney Vacation Club was giving away entry bands
Is fast pass only in one section- the Everest Section?
I think. I am on Dinoland side with a band
And it stop working 8 minutes in
