I have an AP. And I canceled my BBG immediately this morning.
Surely, then, it must be a glitch. Perhaps an indicator of something changing soon, though
This is my thinking…that they are planning to open it up so people aren’t in the parks or something, and were making changes to the system, but ended up mistakenly allowing annoying to book a BG. It will be interesting to see how it plays out in the next several days.
Some one hasn’t need to edit their coding more carefully

indeed. I expect whoever made the change (hypothetically) thought that there was already a check in place for having a ticket, and just was tasked to remove having to be in the park. What they didn’t realize was that the check for being in the park WAS the check for them having a ticket.
If it is, in fact, intentional (that is, allowing booking a BG from outside the park), then I think the fix for the ticket thing should be fairly straightforward. Should be fixed tomorrow.
So, the test will be…will people outside the park WITH TICKETS be able to score a BG tomorrow?
Reading Twitter posts, it sounds like people in the park that were shut out this morning caught wind of people at home getting BGs and were not happy. Many complained to cast members who said it was not possible, so they showed them the tweets proving otherwise. One said the cast member took pics of the tweets he showed him.
Someone has some ‘splaining to do!
Ugh, I feel SO badly for these CMs! There isn’t much they can do in this situation but it looks terrible. I honestly hope they are getting legit hazard pay or something.
“Bob! Get in here!”
“Yes, Boss?”
“Logs show you made a change in the system that opened up BGs to everyone!”
“Oh, no, sir. That’s not what happened at all.”
“Then explain why all the Tweets?”
“Oh, well, you see, sir…I was talking to my Aunt Polly, who was complaining about having to get to the park so early to get a BG, so I thought I could make a change to the code so that it would allow her and her alone to get a BG without being there. That’s all.”
“What?”
“Well, what could it hurt, sir? Just one person.”
“That’s not what happened, now is it?”
“Hmm. Well, lemme see. I checked the conditional, and if the person wasn’t tapped into the park, I added a check to say if NAME bang equals Aunt Polly.”
“You idiot! That means everyone EXCEPT Aunt Polly could get a BG!”
“Whoops.”
Be on the watch for an angry tweet from Polly…
Exactly!
I was at the park on Saturday Feb.22nd. We arrived at 7:20am and the park opened up at 8 am. We went all the way to the right lanes after bag check to get in the park. One of the cast members even said the turnstiles to the right are much faster than the ones to the left. We walked to slinky dog and were in line at 7:41. We lucked out and we were standing very close to a cast member. My friend and I both logged in right at 8 am. Her Join boarding group turned red before mine. She joined. We were told by the cast member to immediately stop logging in on the other phones because this causes errors. We did. However, when we got to the next screen. It did not recognize one member in our party of 4 as being in the park. The cast member said get it for 3. We got boarding group 80. Then a guest experience person added my daughter to group because she was standing with us and obviously in the park. It took 10 seconds no biggie. They called our group at 1:15. I noticed people trying to early missed the chance also if you get an error or if someone is missing get your boarding pass and let cast members fix it. You do not have to be there 2 hours early like everyone wants you to believe just be in the park. This might be information already posted but wanted to give any info that may help. We were not on disney wifi.
Also the cast member told us people have more success refreshing from the find out more screen of the app then the my status. I know people have different data but thought I would pass along.
And yes. I think the generic name of every CM is now Bob. All the way to the top!

Oooooo my thoughts in commute home:
Wonder if they are going to try to let people with active tickets try for a BG regardless of whether or they are in the park. This could perhaps help with crowds in the morning - limiting it to the people who want to rope drop but letting others who plan to arrive later stay home.
Then the question is whether or not they allow people who don’t have PH tickets but have FPPs in another park try for a BG. Ex: if I have prebooked FPP in MK for the day, would they let me still try for a BG.
I’d like to see them gift anyone in the park before the BGs run out a FP if they don’t get a BG. FP for any experience in HS.
Can someone let me know if I drive myself to HS (staying at Universal) what time should I be in the car entrance area? is HS a “shuttle” from lot to park or direct park and walk to entrance for early rope drop? Thanks
Direct park and walk (optional Tram)
