Cell data was better than WiFi. I turned my WiFi off and I got in whereas my husband didn’t, even though he has an app that measures WiFi service and it appeared to be stronger.
I relaunched the app around 7:55. Don’t know if that helped.
I used the “find out more” and back button.
We unlinked my inlaws so we didn’t have to worry about us unselecting anyone.
We got boarding group 60 and our window was from 2:36-4:36.
If you have a slinky dog fast pass and are rope dropping toy story mania. Steer to the left in the crowd. We accidentally ended up in the slinky dog line and it took us awhile to figure that out!
Rise of the resistance was amazing and my son declared it the best day of his life!
Hope these tidbits help. Have a great trip! Super depressed ours is over.
I didn’t launch the app until 5 or 6 seconds until 8 AM. A few days ago I got boarding group 11. Today I got boarding group 6. WiFi was turned off both times. I’m on Cricket, which is owned by AT&T. It uses the same cell phone towers as AT&T. I’m on an iPhone XS.
I know that I’m lucky, because the Disney app can always have a problem. The people next to me had to close and reopen the Disney app. I think they got boarding group 69.
Ditto! Can’t wait to see the latest. We are here this week, and eager to see if the trend continued or improved. Thank you so much for these charts of data!
You can’t go very far, but you can see if BG are available and try out the different refresh methods (pull down vs going backwards). And make sure everyone is properly connected if other members of your party will be trying to grab a BG from their accounts (or signed into yours),
So, every time I practice getting a boarding group and I click on Find Out More from the main screen and then My Status, I can never get Join a Boarding Group to be active. This morning the button for a Join a Boarding Group was active on the same page as My Status, but when I clicked on My Status it told me I could not join a boarding group at this time. I backed up and tried Join a Boarding Group which seemed to work fine. Then after that if I clicked on My Status, Join a Boarding Group was lit up.
Is there any reason I shouldn’t just click Join a Boarding Group from the main page since it seems to activate faster for me? Is there something I’m doing wrong? I’ve still got a little over a month to get this figured out and I’m trying to work out the best method. Any help appreciated.
@SteveBloom I am so stressed out over this process! Our HS day is 3/12 with park opening currently reported at 8AM. Can you please provide step by step instructions (or a link to such instructions) on the latest advice about the most efficient way to go about getting a BG, starting with suggested arrival time at HS? Please assume the user is not technologically proficient. I am seeing conflicting advice in this forum about cellular vs. WiFi and “My Status” vs. “Join a Boarding Group”. I haven’t started to practice yet but I have an iPhone 8+, so I am worried. Other members in my group have iPhone 11, 8+, and 7. If this is already updated somewhere else on TP, I apologize, but the advice seems to constantly change. Thank you!
I think the “My Status” suggestion on being faster is anecdotal/coincidence. I did this wednesday 2/5 and didn’t get a boarding group until 8:00:30 - had to keep refreshing to get the join and ended up with BG 71 (only went to 67 that day). around me a few if us were trying and at least one person got it faster by refreshing the main page, not status page. On friday 2/7 i did it on the main page, didn’t use my status page and got in within 10 seconds, BG 32 if i remember correctly.
The only purpose of going through “My Status” is if “Join Boarding Group” is NOT already active. If it’s active, click it! If it’s inactive, click My Status and for many / most users it forces the app to pull from the server and recognize that distribution is open, and you can click “Join Boarding Group” from there. If after clicking My Status, “Join Boarding Group” is not active, click the back arrow and check to see if it’s active on the previous screen. Repeat.
