Really sorry to hear it. I hope everyone feels better soon.
Happy thought: Sometimes the anticipation is the best part!

So sorry for your plans getting wrecked. I know all too well how devastating this feels right before you were going to leave. Good idea to already have a backup in place so you can immediately pivot to planning for the new dates. Hope everyone feels better soon.

:sob:

You’re managing an amazing attitude.

I hope everyone is well soon, and I am looking forward to your June report. Many hugs.

PS Thanks for doing the right thing, too. I’m sure a lot of people would push through

I’m really sorry this happened. Hope your kiddos are on the mend soon. Glad you thought to start your back up plans when this all started.

Oh noo! I’m so sorry—trading a Disney trip for sick kids is basically the worst deal available. Good news is you have plenty of pros to look forward to in June.

I will admit I’ve been on an emotional roller coaster the past few days - experiencing everything to from anger to maybe we can just push through to the depression that we got this close.

But at the end of the day, if we tried to push through our kids would be miserable, and that’s not what we want out of this trip. And I’m lucky enough that my job is extremely flexible and my company values health and time off.

So yes, it’s extremely disappointing, but time to look forward.

Good decision Mike.
Tough one but glad to hear you’ve already got things rolling towards your next trip.

I’m so sorry, but the pros list for going later are definitely some nice things to look forward to. And thank you for not sharing your germs with everyone at the parks.

Ok, so in the last two hours I’ve cancelled all my reservations (dining, park), moved my flight, and called Disney to cancel the existing reservation and apply my funds from that to the new reservation.

Worth noting that Disney waived the cancellation fee even though check-in is tomorrow - this is where I appreciate Disney customer service.

So the official, new plan is:

  • Depart PVD on Monday, June 20, 3:45 PM
  • Return on Tuesday, June 28 (12:10 PM flight).

So we get one extra night - but arrive in the evening and so we end up with a full park day instead of a late afternoon park day. Almost broke even doing this, ended up being $50 more between the flight and hotel. (We would have spent a lot more if we had kept the same schedule due to the much higher flight costs in the mornings).

Staying at YC instead of BC this time, but we really don’t have a preference between the two - they’re both on Crescent Lake, they both have Stormalong Bay…

Moved the tickets and made new park reservations - we do have park hoppers
Tue 6/21: Epcot
Wed 6/22: MK
Thu 6/23: DHS
Fri 6/24: Rest/resort/Springs day (with Epcot park reservation, possibly evening for dinner, etc.)
Sat 6/25: AK
Sun 6/26: DHS
Mon: 6/27: MK

So that’s it - onward and upwards. Not what we planned, but the family is all excited that we still get to do this. I’m disappointed but now I get to plan again .

Thanks again for the great support from everyone!

It is super great of them to do this. They typically will if you’re rebooking, but they don’t have to by the terms of the reservation. I’m glad they did!

Nicely done!

Sorry you had to reschedule and that DS4 is now showing symptoms. Hopefully you will all be back on your feet quickly. Now you’ve got another shot to perfect your dining reservations AND characters should be back. Glad you got things rescheduled easily and you got a bonus night.

One benefit is that you will get to experience Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind!

Yes! DS11 mentioned that this morning when we made the decision. And we figure Disney’s not done adding stuff back, so there will be even more (more characters, maybe real character dining, etc) by the time we go. Silver linings!

Of course that means I’ll have to completely rethink my touring strategy for Epcot!

For those that know, is there anything stopping us on a day where we have an Epcot park reservation but are only going in the late afternoon or evening from tapping into the park, turning right around, and hopping the Skyliner to DHS?

This is not the news I was hoping to see from you today, but I’m glad everything appears to have been resolved for your backup trip. You’re going to LOVE GotG!

Yep, you can do this.
