Rental Cars 2025

But it is a “members only rate”!

Those are almost always priced like that

Randomly I just got a lower price on a compact SUV. I was also able to extend the return time to give me extra time.

It is $70 more than the compact I have booked. I am also pretty confident there will not be any compacts available when I get there, so my chances of an upgrade are pretty good.

I just did the math. I have always tried to be under $40 per day, all in. My compact is at $48. The SUV is at $66.50.

What is a realistic target these days?

This is about where I try to be, as well. I want to be about $300 all in for a week, so that’s like $43 ish or so a day. But I’m also looking for an SUV

My last two rentals for 6 days both were in the $160-$180 range. Both were Kia Souls

Note that the more recent one was Hertz and I won’t rent from them again. The other was dollar

I dropped one of my rentals by six whole doll-hairs

It was like that one time Southwest gave me a refund of 7 whole points! :expressionless_face:

So I went back to some odd affiliate of a decent website, and I got an Audi Q5 through Alamo for the week for €383.91. Yeah, Euros. That is with gas service included.

I’ll take a stab at it and see what happens. I did check the Alamo site, and they do have the reservation on file.

Are you an Alamo Insider and can you link the reservation in the app?

I probably should sign up and check the app out.

I just hate apps that can easily be a website

I link to the app, complete the direct to car, and then download the barcode to my Apple wallet.

That makes sense! Funny enough, I don’t use Google Wallet that much :grimacing:

Ok, I know that this thread is very specifically 2025, but my parents have requested a car for our April trip. What would you all think is “reasonable,” for 9-days for a minivan? It doesn’t have to be cheap necessarily, but I’m just curious what the going rates are. National/Enterprise are looking like $700-800. Seems reasonable?

I was going to look at 2 intermediate cars but each one was looking like $500-600 on their own!

I put the date in the title so that future people would know that the information is obsolete, but I have no qualms about you asking about 2026. At some point we could make a new thread or just update the thread title if it makes sense to do so.

I paid $600+ for a minivan rental that spanned 11 days (October 3-13). I think about $700-800 is reasonable but if you keep checking you might find a better rate. Look at about 30 days before. I used Autoslash and booked Alamo.

Thanks! There were a few coupon codes that I found that were only for 2025 so I signed up for emails from National and Enterprise so hopefully I can start looking in the new year. I will check out Alamo. I used to have Autoslash but I think they spammed me so much I unsubscribed.

You sign up with Autoslash each time you want them to track a trip, it’s not a membership or anything. Just make sure to uncheck the box that says they can email you promotions.

This seems to be about the sweet spot. After that, my prices started going up and up and up.

Well, that’s what I thought, too…but here we are 5 days before and the prices dropped (after going up by 30% last week!)

Mine went down at day 5 but it was still almost $50 more than the cost on 9/1. I stopped looking at day 4, and I have linked that 9/1 price to my Alamo account.

My cheapest price last month was at 32 days.
