Those 30 mins could be eaten up at bag claim at MCO even for an on-time flight.
Completely unreasonable.

It was the one time recently that Iāve rented at a non-airport location, but it was about as close to the airport as any offsite one could be. I guess their excuse was that they held A car for us, just not the car type I had reserved.
ETA- it was not in Orlando/MCO.
Jerry Seinfeld is calling!
Thank you for sharing your experience. I appreciate the details and Inwill never rent from them.
When I dropped off my rental last week I realized I did not take pictures on return. I know after your example, I need to do better. Thank you
This is not something I normally do, but will start. Easy to miss step as one is usually in ārush to the gateā mode and not focused.
This has been the case for Hertz in a lot of places. They are installing a contraption known as UVEye, which is an AI tool to check for damage. There are other car companies using something similar, but then checking with a human to make sure the AI didnāt mess up. Hertz is treating the programming as Gospel and then making you prove your innocence.
I believe there is a class action pending with Hertz regarding this.
23 days out, and prices STILL suck ![]()
The spread has narrowed between cheap and expensive, but itās still because everything is pushing towards the middle. Itās not wholesale going lower in price
Weāve used a camera based system to check valet cars for damage upon drop off. The amount of false claims that valet damaged something is wild, so this system is helps the liability claims a lot. If the rental agencies had any interest in ensuring their customers get a fair shake, they install that AI detection systems exiting and entering their lots. That way they could show a before and after and not send the five most recent renters the same damage claim for a scuff that happened six months ago.
Thatās the problem. The AI cameras see the scuff and dings the last renter did. Then the AI cameras see the next renter with the same scuff (that Hertz didnāt fix) and ding them for it. Repeat ad infinitum.
25 days todays and I did just grab a compact SUV for the extended time (4 full days). It is $100 more than my compact booking but I wonāt have to worry about having to return it early. I will continue to check prices, and Logan flights before Indecide what car I will keep.
I checked Hertz earlier tonight around 6:00, prices stable. I just checked now, everything went up $75! Like cāmon!
I still have a rental, itās higher than I really want to pay, but I will pay it if I have to. I just want it to go down, and itās not. ![]()
Iām sorry your prices arenāt going down. Iām thankful for the reminders to check, my 2-day rental from Universal Studios area back to MCO just went down by $20 to right around $100. I think that might be worth it to avoid Ubers on that half of the trip.
Big shift this morning with Alamo coming in cheapest by about $30. Still $120 more than the current rate I have for the same vehicle class - $250 for compact SUV.
15 passenger vans be like that
Do you already have something booked?
Yes, I have my compact suv for $250. Itās just the lack of availability that has me concerned. When an industry thatās notorious for not understanding how a reservation works shows no reservations available, it makes me concerned about being able to pick up anything.
Weāre back to normal vehicle availability starting at $450 today.
