Rental Cars 2025

If you are going to hit a lot of tolls on a daily basis, it can make sense. But if you’re just driving from MCO to WDW your arrival day, and back on departure day, def not worth it!

In this case they lumped it into “other charges,” and the detail of what made that up was not on the piece of paper — it was only in the app! Sneaky mofos.

I did not end up getting any money back. It cost me about $100 extra for 2 weeks. Lesson learned.

No you’re totally right, you definitely don’t need it if you are going to WDW.

Finally got the email receipt for the tools. I suppose a $10 fee isn’t the worst thing.

Not the worst but annoying that the fee is more than the actual tolls!

Did you use their toll payment on two days??

Just the arrival day. I added the car to my personal toll account, but it must have not have updated quickly enough. So arrival day was charged to Alamo and departure day was charged to my toll account. I didn’t drive any other days.

If you look at Alamo’s info, the Daly toll service fee is $4.95 per day you go through tolls. That is two days of service/tolls.

Make sure your personal account did not also charge you.

Contacting now, thanks!

Now I’m really confused because there is a toll on there from both days. Wonder if the toll companies have an agreement to squeeze the renters for the rental companies? I’m going to email them and see what they say about getting charged two ways on the same day.

I can’t remember what rental agency it was…probably National, since I use them almost exclusively, but it was for work so I’m not sure.

Anyhow, I got a charge for tolls during the time period I had the car rented, even though I was in Minnesota and there weren’t even any tolls roads in the area I was at! They claimed I must have driven toll roads, because it clearly showed charges. It took me almost 4 months, but I eventually found the documentation that mapped the location where supposedly the charges were, and discovered the tolls were from booths down in Texas. I noticed that the license plate on the vehicle was from Texas. I put two and two together, and was able to determine that what they had done was move the toll transponder from the car I had rented, moved it to another car down in Texas, and then someone rented the car in Texas and drove it up to Minnesota, when I then rented it next. Turns out, they never correctly logged the change of vehicle, and were claiming I was responsible for the tolls. After I presented the evidence of their mistake, they finally “agreed” to remove the charge. Uh…thanks? It was sad that I had to do all the legwork on the matter. They weren’t doing anything about it. (Having said that, I like National…it was just this one incident that made me feel like pulling my hair out!)

Does anyone know if there are all tolls driving between WDW and Universal if you drive the most direct route?

There are no tolls on any of the Interstates or US roads through Orlando. Using I-4 from Disney to That Shadowy Place :tm: should be toll-free.

The state roads are a different matter, altogether.

I don’t believe there are ANY tolls between Universal and WDW. The tolls will come when going from the airport to UOR or the airport to WDW.

Thanks guys. That is helpful.

I haven’t got my toll bill yet but my 48 hour rental ended up being $85. I booked a compact car and was upgraded to standard/full size. I didn’t stop for gas (just to/from Universal) and that $85 included an $.80 fuel charge.

30 days out today, and prices are still higher than I want. But it’s like all the prices are centralizing somewhere between $400-$500 for the week.

I just updated my reservations all cheaper b/c my DH said we could rent from the cheapest not just Enterprise . I’ll keep watching. BTW: still cheaper to rent a car one-way from MIA to MCO than take Brightline.

I just need to vent:

What @Jeff_AZ said! Stick w/ public transportation and taxis in the UK!!! That one-week rental keeps ringing it up. It’s up to $468.13. 203.xx original rental and the rest are moving violations  We did NOT speed, run lights… did nothing we are aware of. DH has written to the local constable to inquire. The car got us to places in the UK we couldn’t get to reasonably, like Stonehenge. But NEVER again will I rent a car in the UK.

BTW: Stonehenge is a rip off. 42 pound per person for a 5 min bus ride to walk around it (it’s the same price if you walk to it from the entrance). Google maps took us out past it for FREE. My DH says, Stonehenge has really good PR :upside_down_face: . If we hadn’t just drove 2.5 hours to get to it we would have walked away from the price tag. While in Cambridge we paid over 20 pound per to walk though King’s College. I was the chapel and a green… that’s all. We refused to pay anymore to any of the college after that. We stuck to the free museums. There are lots of them  Our London friends complained similarly about the prices of NY museums.
