Rental Cars 2025

That’s crazy! I wonder if it was the next renters and they didn’t take your name off? They do have cameras everywhere so hopefully they can get you some details.

Yes, there are camaras everywhere  I think I’m more nervous at this point that Enterprise is continuing to charge our card ‘on file’. We may have to start contesting charges and asking them to prove their right to bill us.

You should definitely do that if they aren’t able to produce evidence that you earned a moving violation!

It’s been 13 years since I’ve been, but we might have paid £100 for a bus tour to Windsor, Stonehenge and Bath with included lunch at a small pub. A shame they’re charging so much for so little. It’s not like they need to do anything to maintain the stones!

I keep thinking Stonehenge is in Scotland for some reason  I have to keep reminding myself it in what was Wessex.

I’d pay £42 to see @Shmebulock ‘s illiven drunken stones

According to Wikipedia, this was a picture of Stonehenge from July 1877

So there was some work done on it in the last 150 or so years.

I think some of the price is just to dampen demand!

I was frustrated with the high cost of Stonehenge as well. I’d been in the late 90s and the “included audioguide” had helpful information such as “Stonehenge is made of stone.” So the last time we went, we walked through a field (public footpath) to the back side and took photos by the fence, for free.

We have plenty of standing stones in Scotland.
But not on a Friday or Saturday :woozy_face::laughing::laughing:

I absolutely ADORE Stonehenge.
It fascinates me, endlessly.
But admission is included in my Historic Scotland membership, so I don’t need to suck up the price :+1:t3:
Salisbury is such a beautiful place overall :star_struck:

I wish we had done this instead. The audio tour was extra. The bus was very nice.

The (not-quite-so-true) story of Stonehenge…

Land Owner: Okay, men. Let’s clear this field of all the big rocks so we can start planting.

Men: What do you want us to do with the big rocks?

Land Owner: Oh, I don’t care. Go stack them over there.

Men, to themselves: Hey, guys, wanna have some fun? Let’s pretend we’re building a giant card house with these things!

Wow. That is sooo informative.

I went in 1980 with my dad. It was a let down to be sure.

We didn’t feel let down… we felt robbed :smirk: :smirk: It was amazing to see!

Alamo, or whatever toll service they use, has refunded the $9.90 admin fee after I sent my proof that tolls were charged to my personal account.

When I was looking up exactly where this was, I noticed at Stonehenge is owned by The Crown. So Chuck 3 Cheese can charge whatever they want. And since they have all the money they could ever want, and then some, they could charge 0 and not feel a thing

yes, the second owner gifted it to the country at some time, can’t remember when.

I was just charged for my tolls from last weekend. It was $18.62. That is two days of going through tolls.

I am also 27 days from my next trip. My next rental is about 31 hours longer than my last trip. September was $85. I booked economy ( same type car) for my next trip for $194 about a month ago. The prices to book today are now in the $350 range for economy but $324 for a small suv. I didn’t really account for rentals being booked for the race weekend. I also missed that Logan will definitely at least delay my flight (only one runway open). I have the rental until 4pm for a 5:30 flight. Lesson learned, I will extend all future rentals hours past my flight time.

I generally book mine out to match whatever time I would need to be at the airport for the latest flight out. Maybe the airline’s plans change, but maybe mine do

I will say that I have played with pricing based on earlier return and later return and most times it doesn’t change. Once you’ve crossed that “next day” pricing, they charge you for the whole day. In other words if I’m picking up at 9am, if I’m returning any time after 9am I have found the pricing is the same if I say I’m returning at 12pm or at 6pm because I’m in the “next day”
