interesting, I didn’t have that problem
and I wear glasses
I’ve never been a huge fan of 3D glasses and despite supposedly having very good vision (never had glasses), I feel like I can never see properly with them. FOP for example would be much better for me if it was designed without 3D, you are pretty much inside the screen any way and I think it would remain immersive. I’m glad Soarin doesn’t have 3D!
So in that sense I’m totally fine about this change, but I also wonder if the sets and smaller screens will be sufficient after this or if it would need more redesigning.
Hahaha. This made my day.
I think 3D in its current form just has the weakness of varying so much across experiences. For example, I don’t have this issue you mention - the 3D gimmick effects work great for me.
Somethings you get a bad/poor/worn out/defective glasses that can ruin a sit through. I suppose that an individual person’s eyesight also plays into effect. Maybe it’s this lack of consistency (plus cost overheads) that has Disney rethinking 3D for Remy and potentially other experiences.
I think this happened to me the first time I rode FoP; the scenes were sorta blurry. I was so disappointed and thought the ride was overhyped. Buy since then I’ve ridden at least half a dozen more times with much better clarity and now I LOVE IT.
I do love Soarin’ too; I get a similar thrill from the flying sensation of that ride, although not as intense. I don’t know whether the feeling is heightened in FoP because of the extra sensation of controlling the vehicle (banshee)—leaning into the flight pattern is a big part of the fun—or if it’s the 3D.
True. What is interesting is that I don’t think I have ever had an issue with FoP…but then FoP doesn’t use 3D gimmicks either.
I don’t think they’re cleaning those glasses.

Not some of the last ones I’ve seen. I bring my own lens cleaning wipes
They definitely clean them and mine are always sparkling. Maybe do you have a kid hand them to you? ![]()
I swear some of the pairs i grab look like they’ve been licked.

They clean them (in some fashion) between each use…BUT, many of the glasses have been scratched beyond salvaging, and Disney can’t easily replace them since they are specialized, and they are effectively running low. I think this contributes the need to get rid of them, because they aren’t cheap/easy to replace.
I was on the first set of Rats sent onto the ride this morning for the change to 2D. I was pleasantly surprised, the ride did not suffer at all. The only thing that did bother me was when the mop sprays the water the 3D glasses are not there to shield your glasses so they get wet. I also thought they were adding additional props, but I did not notice any.
So do you think this tie won’t make people sick now? I have never rode it. It spins a lot, right?
No, it’s not a lot of spinning. I can’t do spinning and I am fine with it. As far as motion sickness the original never bothered me, but this seems better. However, you are still moving and looking at screens.
I think the motion is more of a controlled pivoting, to point you in a specific direction, similar to MMRR. Some of the turns can be fast! Not a free-spinning 360 like teacups. At least, that’s how it seemed to me.
Remy made me sick the first couple times I rode it, but not because of spinning. It was due to simulated motion involving screens and gimbal rotation. It is mild (less than Star Tours but more than Soarin’ on the Barf Bag Scale), but can affect some people.
Since I started taking Dramamine before riding, I haven’t had any motion sickness. But I assume removing 3D will make it even less likely to cause motion sickness. MMRR doesn’t make me sick at all, and that might be one reason.
I cried the first time I rode it, but hadn’t had that level of experience again until July. The other rides had been a range of really good to so blurry I almost give up. Was so happy to have perfect ride again.
how far before riding? Remy doesn’t bother me, but I miss doing roller coasters ![]()
If I take some Dramamine about 30 minutes before riding something fast, I’m usually good. It will last about 6 hours or so before it starts wearing off
Thank you
I take a regular Dramamine each night before bed if I’m going to do coasters the next day, then I take half a Less Drowsy Dramamine 30 min before a ride that causes motion sickness for me, but only once a day.
