Remy to switch to 2D

I saw this on chat but didn’t see this here. Apparently, Remy will be converting to 2D. I am actually happy as I never rode it after hearing the reports about how bad it was for motion sickness.

I think it was mentioned inside another thread, but good idea to have one of its own.

I’m glad for the change, personally. The 3D technology rarely works well for me. I’m usually seeing double. I don’t think the 3D adds much to Remy, so it will be nice to avoid having to use the glasses.

I am also excited for this change - 3D rides make me queasy and although Remy was mild in this effect, I still did have to close my eyes at times to avoid feeling sick.

I’m probably in the minority here, but I LOVE 3D rides, so I’m sorry to see this aspect going away.

I’m ok with it going 2D. 3D glasses can be cumbersome with actual glasses

yes! This!!!

Wow! That’s exciting! Not that I will ride it because of my aversion of rodents. But even not 3D screens can cause me issues with motion sickness.

Oh I think this sucks. Remy is sooooo much better in Epcot than in Paris and the diff is the 3D so I think that’s what makes it go from a meh ride to a fun ride.

Remy gave me mild motion sickness the first couple of times I rode it, but after figuring out the Dramamine regimen that has served me well, I have never had issues again. So this change doesn’t impact my enjoyment from that perspective.

I’m of two minds though - it will be simpler and won’t be cumbersome for those with glasses or other vision impediments. One less thing to worry about.

But it will make the ride slightly less immersive. It’s always fun to get the glasses and take a selfie with the kids.

OH it adds soo much. We were all very unimpressed in Paris which surprised me. There’s not enough to look at without the 3D effects and the screen rooms just don’t do anything.

But WITH the 3D effects, all I see is double. Can’t enjoy it at all.

I guess the solution is add some moving set pieces!

Also, it can be done without the glasses cuz MMRR is better. But this ain’t that.

MMRR is definitely much better…but…it is also a very different ride experience. I find the transition from physical sets to screens to be very jarring in Remy. MMRR it is all seemless due to the nature of everything being intentionally like you are in a cartoon.

I think Remy would have been better to be just physical sets with screens being merely supplemental…more along the lines of RotR.

But it is what it is.

Yes, I concur

Agreed. MMRR has a LOT of sets, animatronics, and physical objects, with screens being more supplemental. Remy has very little set, actually. It’s kind of embarrassing how cheap and scarce the set pieces are when you really look for them. It’s truly mostly screens. Without the 3D that might be more noticeable.

Have you been checked by your optometrist for prism issues?

No? But I see an opthalmologist annually and other than astigmatism my eyes are great.

Having said that…it is only an issue with 3D glasses. I spend the whole time fiddling with them trying to make the double or ghost images to go away!

ETA: Actually not entirely accurate.. as of a few years ago, I also have taken to needing bifocals! But the 3D glasses frustration predates that!

Much better than my eyes! They are an absolute mess!

But it might be something worth looking into. You might have a minor prism issue, not enough to affect your everyday life, but just enough where oddball things can trigger your brain.

Or just wait until Remy goes to 2D mode

My husband once bought a pair of 2D glasses to combat this
