Remy to switch to 2D

I’ll withhold judgement until I ride the new ride, but I’ve got a bad feeling about this.

I liked the 3D effects on Remy! Some I have trouble with but I also think it’s the glasses.

I feel this way as well. I love the felling of being a mouse. The 3D aspect works for me.

I don’t like the screens in MMRR.

I take my regular glasses off and squint- but not too much, lol

I’m torn. The 3D definitely made me a little queasy, but I thought the effect really enhanced the ride so I made peace with it.

Thank goodness! I hate 3d goggles!

The Paris one is 2d?

Has it always been 2d?

I don’t know; but I bet chatGPT might LOL
or Matt might know. I remember he would always brag about having ridden it when ours was open and he couldn’t get here cuz of Covid.
But this summer we rode it and my daughter had never ridden the one in WDW cuz she hasn’t been since 2021 and she was like that ride wasn’t very good and I agreed that it was seriously missing something which I found weird since I liked the one in Epcot and have ridden it a few times. Then I figured out it must be the 3D because the ride seems the same itself. So I told her to give the one in Epcot a try next time we go and see if she likes that one better and we’re going in Dec and well this is happening in Nov…..soooo she’s never gonna like it LOL

*Also just a side note that Star Tours and The Simpsons and Forbidden Journey, Transformers, Jimmy Fallon, Mission: Space, all make me sick. Remy has never made me sick. I also don’t like wearing glasses because it’s not clear from every direction (same reason I prefer contacts to glasses in real life, like try to lie down on the couch and watch TV, you have to consciously keep your head straight on). But this ride needs it or they need to add some more non screen elements to it cuz it’s a boring ride without the 3D.

I think on the Disney Dish, Len said it was switched to 2D a few years ago. So WDW is just following suit.

To be honest, I think the switch to 2D from 3D is less motivated by customer experience (although perhaps that plays into it), and more to do with reducing costs. 3D glasses not only need to be replaced over time, costing money, but there is also the need to have CMs whose job it is to collect and clean those glasses everyday. I think Disney wants to avoid that.

This is the same for DH.

Was not always 2D. Was 3D in 2022 when we went. I know because my then 7 year old didn’t grab the glasses the first time he rode and so the ride was blurry! We rode again in single rider- making sure he had his 3D glasses.

I’m personally bummed to see it go to 2D. There’s a few 3D effects they do that just make it far more interesting, I fear it won’t be the same in 2D.

I was just thinking the glasses take me out of the ride! My sisters and I got stuck in the last room and I loved looking around without the glasses and seeing the details.

I am not anti-3D. RIP muppets.

I can see it comparing poorly to MMRR, and see how the glasses give it a little more sizzle.

Especially now that I read through and hear this last room has more set pieces than most.

I was also thinking how sad I would be if FOP went 2D :sob:

It’'s too bad WDW can’t do like Mission:Space and have two versions of it - 2D and 3D. :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

I’d be more terrified of an interrogation conducted by Chef Skinner than Kylo Ren. DS7 closes his eyes whenever Skinner appears.

one of my favorite family memories involves Muppets 3D

I agree.
It really is just going to be an average dark ride without a lot of pieces to engage you.

While I like the concept of Muppets 3D, and I love the Muppets in general, MuppetVision 3D was HORRIBLE in terms of the 3D effects. Talking about seeing double. It was barely any better with the glasses on than off. The 3D aspect works okay for the moments of realism…that is, when they weren’t attempting 3D gimmicks where things were dangling in front of your, etc. But those moments, I just saw double.

To be fair, I have the same issue with Mickey’s Philharmagic. I really love that attraction…but the times they want to highlight the 3D by moving something “closer” to you…I just see two of those things, no matter how hard I try to adjust my 3D glasses.

It isn’t just Disney, though. I remember when The Polar Express came out, they were showing it in 3D. We took the kids. I spent the entire movie seeing everything in double. It was SO MUCH BETTER when we got to watch it at home WITHOUT the 3D.

It will be interesting to see how this affects the line and LL availability and priorities.

I agree with all of this! I’ve tried with and without my regular glasses. These 2 are/ were beloved attractions but I struggle with the 3D effects.
