Ready to Run...a return to RunDisney races

To clarify: on-the-job imbibing should be from one’s own margaritas procured separately or in conjunction with runner margs. Stealing sips is never encouraged, especially in these troubling times

Nobody is getting smashed during the races, just to be clear. No escorts are needed. Merely marg finders

I was thinking of post race celebrations. I get that athletes aren’t over-imbibing!

That’s the craziest part about Wine & Dine - the race that actually has a post race party…the people, they get very drunk!

I fail to understand why the other races don’t offer a single post-series celebration.

I also don’t really understand it. I mean, I guess it is a holdover from when the race was at night and it made sense to run right into the party after you finished…but I don’t know why they still have that one and haven’t added parties to the other races.

Marathon Weekend 2023: January 4 - 8

Man, it’s so hard with it being right after New Years like that

I agree. Makes it tough to properly inebriate the previous year.

On the bright side, it pushes the marathon a hair closer to school winter break and office holidays. Maybe I can convince DW to let me do Dopey again, and bring the kids with us this time. Maybe we could even do the 5k as a family (except DD3, will be DD4, hmmm… maybe not). My mental wheels are already turning and I’ve only been home a few days!

I’ve been thinking about this thread for a while, and how it has been such a source of motivation and community for me this last year. How should we continue this? Maybe an annual RunDisney thread? Ask Len to create a new forum category (not sure we need a whole category)? Or we could just keep this one going until we hit the 10k post limit, then start Part 2 (a la Coronavirus Outbreak)?

You all have totally inspired me and January 2023 is pencilled on the calendar! A combo of running and a solo trip. I am absolutely not supposed to be even thinking about another trip for YEARS but if Disney is the motivation I need to run so be it!

I don’t think there is a better carrot to run after.

I say we ask for a category. There could be threads for each race weekend, and a general thread for general running questions, gear, etc

@Len - can we get a RunDisney category added to the forum? As you know, I’ve been thinking about this for a while now. I think there is sufficient participation (see this thread) and potential content to warrant a separate category. Feel free to PM me or email me if you want to continue discussion offline.

It was initial motivation to train for a race! And runDisney races are truly the best!

If things progress well, then the kids races may be back next year. Maybe the 1 mile run for DD4!

Is there a fun walk for those of us that can’t ever run (severe shin splints and stress fractures in my early 20’s)?? I would be up for that!

If you can walk faster than 16min/mile you can walk any of them
