I’m so following this post about BWV, as I am trying to triage my room request now.
I have a studio pool/resort view booked for 8 nights at BWV, checking in around 10AM-ish on the Saturday before Thanksgiving.
I’m a ‘never, ever’ 1st floor hotel person, so was thinking of just requesting a high floor (3rd - 5th) with first preference overlooking Village Green, and 2nd preference being close to elevator/lobby.
But, I believe 2nd floor rooms still have balconies, though you are on the lobby level. The ground is not flat there. But I could be misrembering. @PrincipalTinker or @melcort10 probably know.
There was dividers and bushes to block in the patio. This was an amazing location ( around the corner from the fitness center BUT it is a wheelchair accessible room and the bathroom area could only be used by one adult at a time (I was traveling with my sister). The shower was hand held. There are showers very close by in the fitness center.
1st floor in the South building is the “ground floor” and 2nd floor is still lobby level. Is that what you are asking? I think it’s more of how the lobby is up higher. But you should get a balcony for anything not on the 1st floor.
I don’t think no terrace separation bothers me in terms of someone walking into your sliding door since I think anyone could do that anyway, but it would be awkward to also be out at the same time as someone else. Also, at BWV my kids kept looking in the room next to us!
This answered my question - I like being on the ground floor or the lobby level there because I just find it easier to get around not having to find an elevator bank or a stairwell. You can enter or exit easily. But I wanted to confirm that the rooms on the 2nd floor parking lot side of the building had balconies and not patios.
Ah gotcha, well you get two floors where you can exit without elevator/stairs! But if you want to exit to the Boardwalk/Boat/Skyliner, you need to be on the 1st because while the Lobby exits flat out to the parking lot, you would need to elevator/stair down from the lobby to the Boardwalk side where almost everything else is.
This is all a mental thing for me - for some reason walking out the lobby and down the stairs to the boardwalk is so much easier than finding elevator banks or hidden stairwells. I find it bonus that BWV has two “ground” levels, but “never ground level” people might find it a disadvantage.
I get it! We were in 1111 last trip (which I loved) and we ended up leaving in the mornings out the south door (by the parking lot) and then walking up the front and down the big BOARDWALK stairs. That’s half the fun! But we are lucky we don’t need a stroller anymore. I’m hoping that my Dad’s upcoming surgery is successful and we don’t need a scooter.
This is all such good information. I am planning on using TP room request/room finder, but I had read from others at BWV that just requesting a high floor overlooking Village Green and/or if not that, near the elevator or lobby might be the way to go vs. getting my heart set on a specific room. There seems to be a sizable number of studios on floors 3-5 that are garden/pool views, just don’t know how many of them will have people checking out on Saturday. Whether I get close to the lobby is a whole other cookie. Seems like 3rd floor might be a sweet spot - meaning climbing stairs isn’t so bad, but if you get floor 5, you will be a bit more married to the elevator.
Just saying a general area is good but there is only one elevator bank and few rooms over looking the village green and both are very popular requests.
I generally pick a room. The text will list similar rooms, and then you can add additional info in the text box, (your 3rd floor request).
