Method used (e.g. fax request, note on reservation, on-line check-in, etc.) TP Request
Room requested: Building 4 or building 5 backside, Floor 1
Additional circumstances: We would like to be near our traveling party, reservation ****** under the name *******. We have a guest running the Dopey Challenge, if we could have a first floor, it would be greatly appreciated.
Result: 5130 and 5131
• • Note: We did an early check-in at the front desk, around 10ish in the morning. I explained we were willing to wait for a room because we were going to DS for most of the day. The CM very kindly let me show her on the map the area we were looking at, and she made the magic happen!
Method of Request: Touring Plans, online check in with no requests
Requested room: 5053-5065 facing Village Green, second choice of 5052-5066 facing the main pool.
Received: 5054
Knowing that the village green rooms are very popular, we were quite pleased to receive our second choice. Could see ToT from the balcony and close to the elevator.
One bad thing about the room - one night it was very windy and there was a lot of squeaky noise from a rooftop vent.
Method of Request: Touring Plans, online check in with no requests
Requested room: 9402 or similar
Received: 9410
Good view of the pool and close to both stairs and elevator without being noisy. We had hoped to be on floor 4 near the end of the building so this was a good room for us.
We did a split stay with this being our second resort. We had indicated we would be on property before 4 and received our room is ready text at 8:44 am!
I feel very unlucky with room requests! And my streak of bad luck continues. . .
Resort: BCV, studio
Method of request: touring plans fax, online check-in with no requests
Requested: Room 222 or similar, requesting any studio on any floor in this part of the building that juts up against the BC resort
Room: assigned 263
Room 263 was fine. It was quiet (in terms of other guests–there is street noise from the cars driving behind), and it had a ginormous balcony that wrapped around the corner of the building. We could see part of Spaceship earth through the trees. I dared hope I would get my request because it seemed fairly open ended with a number of possible rooms in that part of the building. But this room was not close to my request. I wonder whether a call to guest services is beneficial with the DVC rooms?
I have been in a room close to where yours was. I would have preferred being closer to the bus stop, etc. But the view over there is great, at least! And you can see fireworks pretty well.
Getting a room request fulfilled at a DVC is very difficult. Every single person staying there knows all the tips and tricks, which rooms are best, etc. Everyone (or a very large %) is requesting the same rooms. I try to keep this in mind and try to be satisfied with what I get and just be glad I’m not on the furthest end of the resort close to the road.
Well, no fireworks from the 2nd floor. We could see the upper third of SE through trees. It honestly was fine.
I hear what you are saying about the fact that most people would want to be closer to the main resort and bus stop, marketplace, etc. I just figure that someone has to be assigned those rooms, so why not me? I don’t mean to complain, and staying there is great for several reasons, regardless of room assignment. But sometimes I feel like Charlie Brown with the football with room requests. I might be better off not making one, so I don’t have my hopes dashed!
I always assume everyone else complains more than me so I’ve resigned never to get the best rooms. My mom is the one who always complains until she gets what she wants, even if she has to change rooms the second day. I’d rather not bother.
I don’t know about that - maybe if you hadn’t made a request, they would have given you 276 or something way on the other side.
I made zero room requests this time …staying 2 nights at ASMo and ended up in Preferred Room Dalmatian Bldg 1. So close to lobby. … only booked Standard with 35% off AP discount.
Pixie dusted again? Staying at ASMo again post cruise - and as we were going thru the security gate at 9:34 am I got the email that said our room was ready!! So amazing. We were able to drop our stuff and get a little settled before heading to Epcot for the day. In Dalmatian again, Bldg 4 this time.
We got major pixie dust post cruise.
We’d gone to TL for the day and we were tired and nasty at 3PM and I still hadn’t gotten a text, but as we drove toward the All Stars the text came through and we were not only texted - but we had been upgraded to a suite. It was awesome. Unfortunately it was the first time for DH and DDs and they have had to be reminded many times that any upcoming All Stars stays will not always be that roomy.
Resort: POR
5/10-5/16
Category booked: Woods view 5th sleeper
Requested with TP fax request: 1705 - Any ground floor room in building 16 or 17.
Room received: 1621
Our room was PERFECT! Exactly where I wanted to be on the ground floor and a quick walk to the lobby and bus stop. We had two windows and the quiet pool was right outside our door.
Resort: AKL Kidani Village
Room booked: 2 bdrm savannah view
Method of request: via Touring Plans fax request w/note
Room requested: 7624 - added note that I’d prefer a room near lobby with the sunset savannah view.
Room received: 7867 (all around terrible room, the exact opposite of my request in almost every way)
Room that the front desk switched us to, after speaking to them: 7634 (very close to my request)
I did online check in and waited until the room was ready to see if it would improve my chances of getting a good room. Got the text @3:40pm that my room was ready, it was an awful room super far from everything and not the sunset savannah view. Went to front desk, and they admitted to seeing my room request on their screen (so is the room you get just randomized lottery?) Without any fuss (or even confirming my identity) they switched us to 7634.
So, if you dislike your room they give you, try the front desk and see if they can give you something better. Thankfully for us, they were easily able to fix it. Our initial room was such a hike and I can’t imagine tolerating it for a whole week.
I’d also be curious if people can list WHEN they make the room request. I actually haven’t done mine right at the 30 day mark, sometimes much closer to the trip and wondering how this might impact your results. I realize it may depend on time of year, etc but I really don’t know when they are doing the room assignments.
I also was given a terrible room at AKL— Jambo—. Like the last room possible down the furthest hallway.
I called the hotel from home— front desk called me back and I had a new room before I even left. So definitely try at AKL they seem to try and accommodate if they can!
