I guess the airlines also have some way of adjusting how much fresh air vs. recirculated air there is. IIRC, the main downside to fresh air is the heating of it, and (I think) the drag. So it might be that they have increased the mix as well as changing out the filters more often.
After I read up on it, I, too, figured it was a lot better than the bad rep it has gained over the years.
It’s neat being able to walk around the park and see all the masks and low crowds. Makes me want to go now when it’s low crowd level. I’m not found of big crowds, ever. Thanks for sharing the link!
They should do one or two days a week where the ticket price is double or triple with attendance capped at 30-50%. I’m sure enough people would pay to experience the parks that way.
What does 30-50% capacity look like?
I guess I don’t have a good sense of what kind of event that would be similar to?
What kind of capacity are the Christmas and Halloween parties compared to a normal park day? How about the AP preview today? Just curious how much bigger the crowds will be when the parks reopen in a few days.
Nobody knows but Disney said they would be ramping up attendance over the first few weeks, so presumably today was less crowded than it will be Saturday, which in turn may be less crowded than two or three weeks from now.
Been There, Done That … is was call E-Ride Night and was capped at 5000 Resort Only guests.
Now the attractions might change from time to time based on refurbishment availability, but generally speaking, those were open along with a handful of quick service dining locations. All of this for a staggering $12 for adults and $10 for children. This event stopped operating in 2004. If only we knew how good we had it back then….
You could walk-on continuously loading attractions (i.e. Buzz Lightyear) till you had your fill.
This is what I am worried about. As much as I find the FP system to be frustrating, we very rarely wait in standby lines when we go to WDW. We have great luck with scheduling early pre-selected FP’s and then getting a lot of same-day FP’s. If the standby line is more than 15 mins, we usually avoid it. I saw wait times today of 35 mins for 7DMT and 25 mins for BTMR, and this was only an AP preview day. With the 6-ft apart rule, I am guessing that a good portion of the standby line will be out in the sun/heat. I really hope they keep the crowd levels down, but with opening up ticket sales and now offering deeper room discounts, I am afraid their “target” capacity thresholds are creeping up.
I agree with you there. For short waits and low crowds our family can definitely get over the mask wearing in the heat and missing out on some experiences like characters and fireworks, but if all of that is gone and we still have to wait in long lines that is probably enough for us to delay again.
I think the first month or so will be pretty low as they get a feel for all of this. After that, expect to see them start to raise capacity. These videos have me more excited about our trip on the 19th. I will be more excited if the videos look similar this weekend.
I really hope this doesn’t happen, but it probably will. I would guess they will try to calibrate it so the most popular rides have waits no longer than one hour though. Better than 3 hours I guess!
I know there are ticketed events, but they are all either early for a couple hours or later in the evening for a few hours. I’m talking about an entire day with limited crowds at 2 or 3 times the normal price. People would pay. They pay now for a couple hours at ticketed events. What do you think people would pay for an entire day like that?
I like the idea in theory, but people are already complaining about how Disney is too expensive and elitist. These same people would absolutely lose their heads if Disney would do this.
DAH and EMM don’t take away from a normal day, so they mostly let it slide, but you take away a full day to it…I don’t see that going over well at all.
expensive yes… elitist no… well, I don’t agree w/ the later. We spend most of our stays at value and moderate and I don’t see elitist there at all. When we travel through deluxe resorts we feel very out of place, like we don’t belong. We don’t live in that tax bracket. I know with our new DVC mbrshp (never used thanks to C-19) we’ll get to stay in those swanky places more
Oh last Xmas we stayed at the Grand Californian and didn’t feel out of place… much. It was a real treat, our first trip w/o out any children in tow. We could afford to stay there w/ a deep military discount. We’re given a GREAT room overlooking the main lobby with wonderful holiday tree. We listened to carolers every evening.
