Parking at BWV

I’ve read it’s a hike from the lot to the BWV rooms. Any experience with this?

It’s about break even for me to rent a car vs my anticipated cost of Ubers (MCO, AKL, Disney springs twice where we are headed to parks afterwards), so I was considering renting for max flexibility.

However, the complaints about parking at BWV gave me pause.

I relied on Ubers at DLR years ago and boy was that a mistake (Ubers were so busy / backed up I couldn’t get traction, Ubers would cancel and I’d have to start over). It was the trip where we waited for Ubers.

O know I can do the bus but I know that I’m not going to want to take a bus to AK then take another bus to Kidani. Or take a bus to Disney springs then one to BLT and then walk to MK.

This is true and accurate information. It’s far.

When we talked about how little we used our rental last week - just for a trip to DS and a trip to AK - about 13 miles total - we wondered if it had been worth it.

But, since it was a break-even, we decided it was worth it to be in control of our own destinies, particularly on departure day.

Being at BW we walked/ferried/skylinered to EP and HS, and - because nobody should drive to MK - we bussed to MK. The location negates need for a car. But, if it’s the same as using ride share it may be worth it for convenience.

It is a decent walk, but not horrible…and if you go out the side door on the first floor of the BWV wing, it isn’t too bad, depending on where your room is. The walk to the bus stop is about halfway to the parking lot already anyhow. But BWV is just a hike no matter where you go.

If you want to go to Kidani from BWV, you can walk to HS and take the bus directly from there. (If you don’t mind the walk.)

If you go to Disney Springs by bus, and you want to go to MK, you could walk over to SSR and take the Congress Park bus. If you drive, you have to walk back to the parking garage.

Basically, I think driving doesn’t necessarily save you WALKING distance (at least not much)…BUT, it can save you TIME because you don’t have to factor in the time it takes to wait for the buses to show up.

There are some rooms that are closer to the parking lot than others. (Parking lots are bottom right corner.) A lot depends on where your room is.

Yeah. So, this is the walkway I was talking about. If you are in that wing closer to the quiet pool, it isn’t too bad of walk:

The walkway that cuts off on the left also goes to the parking lot.

Agreed.

We actually found that our location was not that far from the parking lot when accessed by the pathway that runs along the water.

It isn’t technically a walkway. It is for CM vehicle access, and there is a gate. You can walk around it, but you aren’t technically “allowed” on that “path”.

Yes, as demonstrated here

The circle is where my room was, the red line to the parking lot is the short path we took to get there

(helps to include the screen shot LOL)

You can walk on the path that runs adjacent to it, and then cross over.

Multiple CMs saw us and did not mention it

Perhaps. But I wouldn’t recommend it to individuals because it is NOT technically allowed still. (We have had CMs “reprimand” us for accidentally walking on that path instead of the walkway for example…and by “reprimand”, I mean in a polite Disney-esque way.)

It is a bit a safety issue, since that is a motor vehicle path.

On the map above, we were in the area “Walkway to Swan/Dolphin” and it was a looooooong hike. (Coming back from Hollywood, I got off the boat at the Swolphin, it was way faster)

Definitely the case for some. Or maybe almost everyone
The captain of the boat mentioned this before docking at Swolphin on our HS night, but we thought about where our room was (really close to the BWV dock!) and decided to stay on. We ended up the only people on the ferry after YC

Ok fair but I also take photos using my phone on rollercoasters :woman_shrugging:

My room was so far on that end that I found a stairwell door by the croquet courts and was able to climb the stairs and pretty much be at the room.

I see the kind of person you TRULY are at heart.

Yup! I walked all the way to that end to stay in the AC as long as possible as I made my way over to YC one afternoon, and when I exited I was right there at the bridge to Swolphin!

Thank you all! I have know idea where I’ll land room wise and haven’t yet submitted my room request.

Do Ubers pick up outside lobby? I’m leaning towards ride share given the low usage of the car, noted by asterisks, despite break even.

Yes, Uber/Lyft pick up in front of the lobby.

Both options give you a different type of flexibility. I think that if you are leaning rideshare that it will be fine!
