We’re going this weekend for a quick 2 day blitz to spend the last hours we have a pass in a place that has been our home away from home, and our very frequent getaway. And of course as I’m packing I’m emotional, so here I am on the forum putting together thoughts to start a trip report.
This won’t be live, but I’ll share as much as I can when I can. To start off here’s what the kids looked like when Disneyland became a newfound love for our family and we decided to pull the plug and get the APs a decade ago.
I’m sure the 70th anniversary next year sill find a way to draw us in, especially with PTN coming back. And we were talking about how no matter what ticket we use to scan in, for all the time we’ve spent there, it will always be home.
Change of plans, Monsters didn’t open with the park. Pivoting to grabbing breakfast en route to our next ride stop. We’re doing a thing for most of our meals where we get things at 2-3 places to all share and get tastes of all our favorites. In DCA that means bfast shawarma, the cappuccino cart burrito, Jack Jack Nom Nom cookie and for the kids the doubled Smoked Gouda Bacon croissant at Starbucks. For now we grabbed shawarma and burritos.
Couple more strays I missed in compiling photos from the DS13 and DH’s phones.
We detoured from our plan again, now waiting in line for the fun wheel. DD11 had me convinced me to do the swinging aka wheel of death side but just as we got in line they made the announcement that killed my conditions of agreement to ride: they had started boarding small groups of 1,2 & 3 together. I only ride the swinging side if there’s no combining. But we all do enjoy the side of the living, or non-swinging side.
Time to snack again. A little bit of our favorites from San FranSokyo. They had what was apparently a seasonal and amazing Baymax Macaron and Aunt Cass’s no longer has seasonal flavor bread pudding. Those had been our fave dessert here. So no dessert with this mix as planned. But so much good savory!!
I’ve ridden it twice ever with DD, once when she was 4 or 5 and then again for her 8th birthday that we spent in DL. So I was due to give her a 3rd chance to ride. No one else in our family will consider it. I will only do it early if they are not combining. I don’t need strangers to witness me in that state of terror.
I didn’t feel too bad for DD tho. When we came for Labor Day weekend he BFF cousin tagged along with it and they rode it. So she just did it recently.
