I have an August UY and was hoping to book a long weekend in November at HHI ( for my son for a honeymoon weekend). That might be impossible? November is 3 months into my UY. I really can’t imagine finding much before March?

I have August UY too. So I could buy some now in this UY. But would I still be able to buy my full allotment when August rolls around and we’re in the next UY? Just not all of them at half off? That’s my question.

If you’re looking for November 2025 weekend you would need to purchase OTU in April- 7 months out-
You would be using your 2025 OTU points…because it falls into that UY.
*The other option would be borrow what you need than replace those with the OTU points- this way gives you home resort privileges and can book a placeholder reservation at the 11 month window to and change it in April. I wouldn’t risk it for a honeymoon weekend especially if flights ect are involved.

Can I purchase points in April (2024 points) and use them in 2025 UY? Wouldn’t that be like banking them past the banking deadline (plus they can’t be banked?).

You would be able to buy your full allotment if you need it next August 25 even if you purchase some
in this UY

I am playing with a lot of banked points for small contracts planned to book a week in Aulani. I THINK I might be able to use some of these points for November and then buy the 24 for April 26 if I can buy next September. Calling for the booking might be a timing issue?
Prior to the new BOGO the answer was yes the reservation would count as 2025 so they would have you purchase 2025 OTU points
- remember a lot of owners who haven’t used OTU points will start with the new program here is my concern for “honeymoon”

Thanks! I have banked my CCV points and will have enough points to book Aulani, at a time that the availability charts seem to show at least the most expensive studios will be available.
I also don’t think a weekend at HHI in November will be hard at 7 months. Honestly, I am just trying to avoid using my precious BWV points.
I know there will be a way to use the one time points, if I can figure it out. Your warnings are great to keep n mind since there might be a lot of us planning on buying these points for the first time.

I started with a direct 50pt OKW 2057 contract- we used OTU points for quite a bit till I found a matching re-sale to add…

There seem to be a lot of unanswered questions about the details of this.
For example:

do you need to buy 12 OTU points to get the free ones?

MS have said to some people that the benefits only apply to one person, so if they are not at the park their joint owner can’t go to the character meet

the member might have to buy a ticket to be able to buy for other people

That’s interesting. I know others have been told that the benefit applies to their whole household. Once again, Disney can’t get their communication right to the frontlines.

That’s definitely in the fine print- as far as the character meet and greets
and accompanied by the Member enrolled in the Optional Benefit Program who must hold a valid digital membership card and photo identification.

That’s unfair on couples or those with joint membership IMO. It should apply to the membership, not on who enrols. Otherwise you’d have to pay twice if you might go separately.

Oh I wasn’t aiming it at you. 
So the MK lounge would be fine but the Epcot one is where the meet & greet will be I think …., so for that one you’ll have to be with whoever enrolled?
I wonder what they’ll do in a situation where the member who enrolled died? I hope they’d allow it to be transferred. But that’s an extra hassle you shouldn’t have to go through.
If I was to buy it, it would be for access to the lounges too, plus the OTUPs. But I’d want to see how it works in practice first.
I hope they open this up to international members soon though. Seems odd they haven’t done so. They don’t seem to have any issues with us paying annual dues.

Yeah I am not sold on the OTU points benefits- it seems great at first but factoring in the cost of the program is essentially pre-purchasing 5 points the savings really doesn’t make all that much sense unless its just aboutthe full 24…
Honestly, it a sneaky way to get existing members to pay extra maintenance fees for unsold inventory. Just my opinion but DVC is starting to behave very much like every other timeshare company…
