MK was a 1 yesterday

MK was amazing yesterday! Any ideas why? TP prediction was a 4, actual was a 1. Least crowded i have ever seen MK. Do people not go to Disney on Memorial day?

It was probably the heat keeping locals away?

It was a 2 on Friday and Saturday as well… I agree with @heathernoel that the heat played a big part.

I didn’t find any of the parks to be at the levels TP predicted. I was looking for (expecting) 7 and 8s. I think I may have experienced 4-6s. We didn’t go to MK though.

Can this please continue for next week? :crossed_fingers: Even if it was the heat, I’ll deal. It’s over 100 here in Phoenix.

Epcot was also dead yesterday. The heat is definitely one element but I also wonder if people are tired of Disney’s rising costs. Vacations are elective and people may be choosing not to go at all or go to another destination.

Animal kingdom is not bad at all. We took a 3 hour lunch break and have almost done everything we want today without genie plus or ILL.

To be sure, travel is down everywhere, not just Disney

I think we’re finally seeing the effects of the economy now that people have burned through dollars saved from covid-impacted vacations.

We’re there next week, too. We are pretty heat intolerant but we are more people intolerant  Would love to not have CL 7 days AND heat.

For sure!

Better yet, let’s have CL 1 and nice weather.

We are there next week too! I was pleasantly surprised by the weather report early in the week. It’s closer to low 90s then gets warmer. But looking at how many people are responding it looks like the first week of June is popular! I hope people wait for Tianna to open!

It does seem to be!! No last minute DVC reservations until the following week. I feel like that bodes ill.

You’re not allowed to say things like this.

This and the fact that you have to take courses to even understand how to plan a successful day. Many people are not like us. They don’t want the complexity that comes with a Disney vacation. I can’t tell you how many people tell me Disney is too expensive and complicated. That expensive should come with ease. They compare the expense to a cruise or Universal. That is where I think many of the missing Disney visitors have gone. Even saving 30% on a room can’t bring them back- not with the cost of tickets, Genie+ and ILLs per day. The cost of food is crazy high for table service (at most, not all). Families are starting to expect more space and amenities in their accommodations. But generally aren’t willing to shell out over $1000 for a 1 or 2 BR on top of EVERYTHING else they have to spend and how much planning they need to do.
People have decision fatigue right now. Times are challenging for many. They just want to go on a cruise or hang out at the beach and relax.
ETA: A $5,000- $10,000 for a vacation isn’t the same to a moderate wage earner from the New England and West Coast states as it is to a moderate wage earner from the Southern/ Southeastern state. And people closest to Disney World geographically are really feeling it. $5000-$10000 could be a quarter of their yearly income right now.

I think “the magic’s gone” is in another thread

I’d like to see data on Disney vacation bookings in a Taylor Swift tour year. Everyone seems to have spent their money on tickets and trips to see her this year.

While there IS a downward trend the last 5 years (taking out 2020), the average attendance at WDE was over 22 million people according to Statictica. According to USA Today, the Eras tour sold 4.35 million tickets from Nov 2022 - Nov 2023.
I can’t say it didn’t have an impact. If 1/4 of the people decided to pick Eras over WDW that would only be a little over 1 million people.
I can’t find stats on 2023 park attendance. It would be interesting to see the difference between 2022 and 2023.

There are plenty, plenty of people that would not spend thousands of dollars on a 1 night concert to see anyone in lieu of a multi-day Disney vacation- even if it was resort only, lol. Count me squarely in this group.

Me, too. In fact, about to embark on the second multi-day Disney trip in 6 weeks (don’t ask how this happened as I have no good explanation). Both trips for less than some of my friends paid to fly across the country to see TS.

look if you change it to 11 weeks I’m right there with you! I just got back yesterday. And my trip before that was a second long weekend in March (and a week long trip after Thanksgiving and a March before that ). Just doing my part to keep Disney’s stats up!
