Both Dad and Daughter Rescued After Going Overboard During Disney Cruise Ship
âWe commend our crew members for their exceptional skills and prompt actions,â a Disney Cruise Line spokesperson said.
Definitely a good point!
Ditto

the man who jumped in was not the father
So what youâre saying is articles are being published without verification?
Preposterous!
more concerned about his wifeâs
If he did indeed put the kid on the railing, id be on the phone with a divorce lawyer asap.
If he didnt and just jumped in to save her, i would be immediately head over heels in love all over again

Were you standing there? Did you speak out in opposition? Then 100% agree
If you were standing there and didnât? Youâre at fault too
If you werenât standing there and he was a bone head? Dead
Reports are they are banned for life from DCL for disregarding safety rules and regulations
Yeah, Iâm seeing that plus being billed for the rescue. And heâs facing possible charges for child endangerment.
I am glad to see that most of the reports have taken âheroâ out of their titles. Thatâs kind of like saying an arsonist firefighter is a hero for saving someone they didnât know was in a building they set on fire.
(there are places where those lifeboats stick out especially
The lifeboats are above Deck 4. Thatâs one location where thereâs nothing underneath.
Youâre not stupid enough to sit your kids on the railing.
Oh trust me. There are cameras all over. While the rescue crew was going into action, security was immediately reviewing the cameras. Iâd say odds are extremely high that they saw exactly what happened and radioed the crew on the boat and the fact that the child is not with him tells me they definitely have enough to essentially become CPS for the child.
Where are you getting this info from? I canât find it online.
Good point.
Iâd say odds are extremely high that they saw exactly what happened and radioed the crew on the boat and the fact that the child is not with him tells me they definitely have enough to essentially become CPS for the child.
As far as cameras? Itâs common knowledge that there are cameras all over.
In terms of protocol? Theyâre going to immediately review the footage - it helps with exact time, etc. all of which is crucial to the rescue.
In terms of acting as CPS? Comes from being a first reporter and having had friends work in ERs. When there is a possibility of parental harm having been done theyâll act to protect the child until CPS gets there.
IOW - nothing like this is in any reports. But itâs pretty much standard operating procedure for something like this.
I thought you were saying this was happening right now not that itâs possible. Got it.
I was saying thatâs almost certainly what would have been happening while the rescue was happening. Info like exactly how, exactly when, etc. would be crucial to the boat going in the right direction and being prepared when they got there.
This article seems to have taken a much more balanced reporting approach. Even the headline is way different.

âWe commend our crew members for their exceptional skills and prompt actions,â a Disney Cruise Line spokesperson said.
That is the first article I see that has an eyewitness talk about her being on set on the railing by the (presumed) father.
I did also an hour or so ago see a known crew member (who works in the youth activities and is right now on the Dream) comment on one of the FB groups that the girl was set on the railing for a photo, by the (presumed) father. I was surprised she was willing to post that much information about it, being employed by DCL specifically. And then it occurred to me that even though she is much closer to the situation working on the ship, she might not know much more than any of the other guests, since I donât see Disney confirming those kinds of details in an all hands meeting like that. And she likely didnât see it being a youth activities counselor.
Also she probably no longer works for Disney ![]()
Yes another thing you learn as a lifeguard
Back when I took lifeguard training in the 80âs they really were hard core about all of this, including how to get out from someone grabbing onto you. I still remeber having to tread water and having a former Navy Seal grabbed onto me from behind and have to get out. Even better was doing a reverse to get them where you couls being then in. I am still proud of that training and it makes me feel more confident to today.
Going IN after your kid - letâs be real - that isnât always automatic.
Iâve thought about this a lot too.
Swim team for at least one summer was mandatory for my kids (I didnât just want them to know how to swim but I wanted them to be able to swim 1-2 miles) but I think lifeguard training should be too now that I think about it and theyâre technically adults and can do what they want. Lol I donât care if they actually lifeguard but youâre so right that it teaches you so many valuable things.
