Mickey’s Very Hot and Muggy Christmas Party Report

We attended our first MK Christmas party on the Sunday after Thanksgiving. It didn’t go as planned by any means. We arrived at Pop Century around 1 due to horrible traffic. Didn’t matter, room wasn’t ready until 3. So we didn’t make the early entry. Also there was no way I could wear my long sleeved cute Christmas Mickey shirt, but luckily I found an equally cute short sleeved one in the shop.

We got our wristbands and free ornament and were set loose in the swamp. We rode PP, MP and saw the very cute holiday version of Monsters Inc.

We had not eaten dinner yet but found out that they close all eateries except Cosmic Rays at 6pm. Giant hot dog had to do.

I don’t normally do parades but this one was special so we squeezed in with the rest of the world population and waited. And waited. Wayyyy past the 8:30 start time it finally began.

Those princes were kinda worth waiting for
From here we got a holiday popcorn bucket, free sugar cookie and sip of apple cider. We rode people mover and saw the cool SM overlays. That ride was rocking!

And that was it for us. It was so muggy and miserable we headed out. I leave you with the photo pass pics we got. The third one is so far away you can’t even tell it’s us lol!

What was the temp when you were there? We are going 12/9 and the extended forecast shows upper 70s. I have a 3/4 sleeve shirt planned, but I might need to reconsider. It is currently in the mid 40s where I live.

When we went a few years ago, it was mid-70s and muggy at midnight of the party! It was tshirt and shorts weather. We saw others in adorable Christmas onesies, ugly sweaters, pjs, and such. I was sweating, just looking at them! A week later at 8 am, we were in thermals, jeans, and long sleeves at Hollywood Studios. It was in the 50s!

Nov 27. Hopefully it won’t be as humid when you go.

Isn’t the Mexican place open (Pecos)?

I’m sorry you had to eat at Cosmic Rays. Wish they served better food there, not the almost inedible stuff they usually have.

On a more positive note, you look great in your Mickey T-shirt! Really cute photo.

I’m so sorry to hear it was a bust for you. The parade certainly did look beautiful in your photos!

When we were there in 2019, it was extremely cold the middle of November.

So we have a 6:50 pm ADR at Skipper’s on a party night in a couple of weeks. In fact, we don’t have party tickets, so I am interested to see how it plays out.

You very likely won’t make it. I had 5:50 ADR at Skipper and when we finished we were given a bright yellow wrist band that directed us straight out the gate. Without the proper wrist band you can’t move anywhere within the park, and they check hard from 6p on.

They checked our wristbands every time we entered or left a land and just for the hell of it it seemed lol

@jab300 omg it appeared to be a madhouse Sunday.

We left MK around 3pm and decided to walk to Contepo Cafe for cupcakes before heading back to the car….the lines to get in were the worst I have ever seen! Not only backed up in front but the line extended about half way the way down to the Contemporary- all the way to the backstage area street crossing…people looked like they were melting!

My son commented that if this is the way it is now he is done with parties

I fully expect to be swiftly escorted out following the meal, probably by some back channel so we can’t go in front of the castle or down Main St. But I have wondered whether they will prevent me from using the ADR at all, as you suggest. Official party start time is 7 pm, so I think I have a good argument for keeping the ADR (which Disney offered me and allowed me to make!), but I am prepared to move on out, if necessary. I am genuinely curious about how it will turn out. May even depend on the CM I encounter, I would guess
