If anyone likes this they should read ‘Are You Dave Gorman?’

Never heard of it, but I found this synopsis of the TV series and it sounds hilarious.

Dave Gorman and Danny Wallace had a bet that Dave couldn’t meet 54 of his namesakes (1 for every card in the deck including the jokers). It all got out of hand and they ended up travelling tens of thousands of miles around the world with Daves credit card and Danny’s video camera to complete the task.

Ugh me too. At least when paired with chocolate (I ate a whole box of Andes mints when I was 4). It’s ok by itself.

I don’t know why I never realised there was a show.
I only know the book version, but it enticed me to go on to read Dave Gorman’s Googlewhack adventure and Yes Man by Danny Wallace that was turned into a movie with Jim Carrey.
If anyone likes any of these books I also recommend One Red Paperclip which isn’t by either of these guys but is also a super awesome travel adventure.

I know I posted this somewhere else recently, but don’t recall if I posted it here - sorry if a duplicate:

Back in the early days of The Facebook, another John Tierney in Syracuse found and friended all of us other John Tierneys.

My friends feed back then was chaos.

I did just find one with my maiden name, 1 friend and no picture :joy: Maybe I’m being scammed. Although I’ve never had a FB in my maiden name.

My favorite travel adventure is by Tim Cahill - Road Fever, a high speed travelogue. Random House 1991

I read it to youngest grandson and somehow always think this book is called Press On Regardless.*

These two . . . guys for want of an appropriate noun got the bright idea to drive from the southern tip of South America to as far north as they could get in North America.

It’s a trip.

*this has kinda become our life motto in no small part because of this book. We were completely unaware of who Tim Cahill is. Writer rather than soccer

Book sounds good though :+1:t2:

It’s insane chaos. Really helps make our privileged lives obvious. It was a good choice for a 9 to 13 yo or whatever he was when I read it to him.

Very positive book tho. It’s the guy’s livelihood.
