According to the MS rep I spoke with last night, even though we have one membership number, my husband can buy his own MMB. (She did not seem completely sure of herself, but she did put me on hold a few times to check…) This would not really be worth it for us, but did you see my post above?
I could see this possibly being an advantage for some people. I am trying to work through the timing that would be necessary for the MMB purchase date and the booking dates… if this information is even correct.
This is an insane take! (By MS, not you.) It’s called “Membership” Magic not “Member” Magic. If they allow more than one person on a Membership, which we know they do, the Magic should apply to all of them! They don’t make you buy two contracts to let two adults in the same household into the extras.

Priority Lounge Waitlist Benefit can be used by the enrolled Member and up to four (4) individuals or the number of guests on the resort stay reservation, whichever is greater. All participants must be present at the time of check-in and accompanied by the Member enrolled in the Optional Benefit Program who must hold a valid digital Membership Card and photo identification. The name on the Membership Card must match the name on the photo identification.
Yes, thank you. MS did tell me that as long as I was with my family member, they would be entitled to the benefit. The situation I was wondering about was if my husband wanted to go to a lounge with my kids but without me. (Unlikely but possible.)
Well that’s disappointing. How big a difference is it to them to let a spouse use a membership to enter a lounge? Can’t be that large a pool of people.
He can still go to the lounge, he just doesn’t get “skip the line” access which honestly isn’t the biggest perk. Last year I didn’t have Membership Magic, and this year I do, and I haven’t really noticed it was needed at the lounges, both at Disneyland, Epcot and MK. Maybe on a super packed day?
We actually had a nice surprise in the opposite direction last October. I didn’t realise there was a membership beyond character meet & greet at Epcot, so I tried to go in to the lounge with my girls. We were just going to walk away when they said it was for beyond, but DD14 asked what membership beyond was. The cast member picked up on her accent (I don’t have one) and asked if we live abroad. We do, and they said that policy was to allow Y members who live abroad entry since we can’t buy it even if we want to (and I would have but grumbled about it). So a) nice policy and b) way to pick up on the kid’s pretty faint mixed up accent and call us back.
So we got to see Nick & Judy and they were super fun. (kids are behind Nick, I didn’t go without them!)
