half is now gone… only the marathon left!

Crazy! I know these races always sell out fast but is this fast normal? Or is it more so due to the 30th anniversary?!
I hope everyone was able to register for the event that they wanted! That was crazy

Congratulations on the folks that got in. Sorry to those that didn’t. I assume some more will open up at a later date (probably not many, but some).
There is a Twitter bot that was recommended for showing current RunDisney availability. @rundisregstatus it came from a Reddit chat and seems legit for anyone looking for a race to open again.
Another thought…how many people do we think signed up for a race longer than they will train properly for (half and full marathon) since they were the last races left? I’m a bit worried that those races will have a lot of sweeps and possibly injuries. I hope not, just something that popped into my mind.
And it really did turn out to be like the Hunger Games, my bad for jinxing it with my reference yesterday.

All good with the Hunger Games reference. I think it was needed to get us all motivated to register.
I suspect it sold out quickly for a couple of reasons:
1.) Pent up demand from people who did not want to attend due to COVID over the past few years.
2.) Due to the Anniversary.
I suspect you may be correct with people signing up for more of a distance than they wanted to. It is hard to imagine the large number of Dopey runners that signed up. It usually takes a lot longer to sell that one out.

There is still a chance more open up. I’m sure in the confusion some people will want to switch up what they got and they release some spots back for registration. (Hopefully)

I was in the queue at like 845a my time. So what, 3.5 hours of starting at my screen and risking life and limb. Only to see it was sold out. DW finally just asked me about it and I said We don’t talk about Dopey….
I’m really sorry. Is there any chance you can get a charity bib? I’m not sure how that works.

I am so sorry it has not worked out for you yet. If past years are any indication, there will be times in the near future where registration opens again. Hopefully you can grab one of those.
I remember last year I totally messed up for my DD, but was able to grab a bib when the registration opened again.
