@mkmuzzy Your review is exactly why we booked Star. All of the things you mention made us think Icon class took Oasis class and improved upon it. (We love Oasis. Sheās our favorite ship.) We love the neighborhood concepts and especially Central Park. Definitely looking forward to Star.
Disney Treasure was a lovely ship in many ways. More cozy and traditional than Oasis but also less expansive and less to do. We also felt more crowded on a fall Treasure cruise than a spring break Oasis cruise.
3/7 @srentmeeDCL Treasure ⢠7-night Western Caribbean from PC
Just booked VGT rate through Costco Travel with Costco visa and will get a Costco cash card as well which equates to about 11% cash back off the VGT rate when all is said and done. Weāre all super excited as we havenāt been on a cruise since the DCL Wish in October 2024 when our 4 night sailing was extended to 6 nights due to hurricane.
Just booked another cruise. Myself, DW and soon to be DD16 will be on the Disney Dream for Thanksgiving week. Nov23-27, 2026. Bahamian cruise, Lookout Cay, Nassau, Sea Day, out of Port Everglade
Just got off Carnival Pride out of Baltimore to Bahamas Feb 1-8. Lovely cruise on a cold week, but it didnāt have many activities of interest for my DD, and entertainment was lackluster, so Iām leaning toward DCL in future.
Booked Disney Fantasy 5-night Bahamian Cruise from Port Canaveral July 26-31, 2026 (combined with 3 nights at WDW).
Planning to book Disney Wish 7-Night Norwegian Fjords Cruise from Southampton to Kristiansand, Norway; Olden, Norway; Alesund, Norway; Haugesund, Norway ā July 23 thru 30, 2027.
We took this exact ship/itinerary in April of 2025 on the Odyssey of the Seas out of Bayonne, New Jersey. They are stuck in port as the norāeaster (winter hurricane) rages off the coast. Hopefully they will be able to laugh about this in a couple days in the Bahamas!
Now, most of us probably realize there is a POTENTIAL for cruises to be impacted by weather (such as hurricanes and such), but few of us probably anticipate snow storms included in that!
Well you have to anticipate a snow storm if you are departing from New Jersey in February! Iāve definitely seen more than a few ships with snow on the deck chairs but usually they are only in NJ for a few hours and then they set sail and it melts! It sucks that the whole port is closed so they canāt just leave.
We have done NY/NJ 3 times now in October and April and itās been fine! But Jan/Feb and even March you have to expect SOME risk of snow! Are you going on the Odyssey or Oasis?
Oh nice! I have my eye on an Oasis trip this October so I have been searching the site a LOT. I donāt think I saw that itinerary but I also may have glazed over it. I canāt drive to NJ to stop in Boston.
Also, we really liked Freedom! Same class. You should try to sail away from the Oliveāor Twist!
That would seem rather redundant. (This makes me wonderā¦does RCCL allow for cases where you actually board in a port other than the embarkation port?) Iāve not been to Boston since I was like 10 years old, and my wife I donāt think has ever been, so for us, it will be nice to see some of the historical sites.
We had REALLY hoped one of the stops would have been in Charlottetown because they have an Anne of Green Gables thing there, but alas, you end up having to trade one thing for another, and the Indy itinerary and ship just seemed overall like a better trip for us. Weāll hit Portland, ME, which Iāve never been to. (I have been to Maine, once, when I was a teen, but literally to the very very Southwest corner of it when we were visiting my sister and brother-in-law in New Hampshire.
We leave Oct. 1, so hopefully the autumn colors will be turning pretty then. But, I know it can vary depending on the overall seasonās weather.
I realized that this wouldnāt make sense, even if it was allowed, because you donāt RETURN to Boston, so youād still end up having to travel from NJ.
