I can’t wait to see what the point charts are for this!

The one thing that caught my eye is that the cabins will have 1- and 2-bedroom units. That will be interesting to see. I’m sure they will all be well beyond my price range (for now).

Thanks for posting! The restrictions will stop me from purchasing but I would love to stay there a couple of nights.

Please keep me in the loop on this resort! I’m becoming very interested in making my first DVC purchase here if they don’t include too many crazy restrictions.

I’m especially interested in the promised lakefront TS restaurant and lazy river, combined with the location. I hope they have the sense to include good walkways between it and WL and FW (thinking of the meandering walk between Kidani and Jambo which is brutal in hot weather!).

My only big negative is how they destroyed the sight lines at FW, but I haven’t stayed there since around 2008, so I can’t complain much.

Woo hoo! Good luck navigating this decision. It’s great to own, I’m not gonna lie.

I didn’t think of this, but it looks like there is an existing “Nature Path” between WL and FW which could be spruced up a bit to make sure this walk is feasible.

What would be really nice is if they could make a walking path from WL to Contempo – WL really isn’t too far from MK. The walk would be closer than Poly at least! I think they might need to do this to ease the burden on the ferry system, monorail, etc. Especially with Villains Land opening.

I understand making a walking path under or over the canal between Bay Lake and 7 Seas may be tough logistically, but it’s got to be cheaper than pretty much any alternative transportation option!

I was trying to find a satellite view on Google maps but it doesn’t seem to show the footprint yet. https://www.disneytouristblog.com/aerial-photos-reveal-disney-lakeshore-lodge-construction-size-speed-near-magic-kingdom/ has some aerial construction views.
I can’t be sure but it looks to me like the rooms on both sides will have some of the best views in WDW.

I missed the restrictions! Are they similar to Riviera?

Based on studying the photos, this is my best attempt at the placement of the main resort buildings (red) and the cabins (light blue).

Yes, everything after Copper Creek are with resale restrictions.

Is the restriction that resale is limited to booking that resort only?

I think I’ve asked this before because I originally assumed that there would be a “Group B” with everything from Riviera and beyond (DLH, FW Cabins, Lakeside, etc.). But I believe that was an incorrect assumption.

If you buy resale, and purchase a resort that existed prior to Riv, then you can only stay at those resorts. You cannot stay at any hotel that was built Riv and after. (Exception poly tower because they added it to the original poly villa contract)

If you buy resale, and purchase Riv, you can only stay at Riv. (Same for Ft Wilderness cabins, lakeshore, and one of the DL ones)

Real life example: we bought RR direct for $162pp. If we sell it today, since the buyer can only stay there, the resale prices are way lower. They range between $106 - $136. So we would lose money on the deal. Compared to our AK points which we would sell at a profit.

So if you buy Riv, Cabins or Lakeshore direct, you can stay at any of the resort?

No, that sentence is referring to resorts prior to Riviera. Keep reading:

If you buy any resort direct all resorts are available to you. Direct purchases have no restrictions.

The kicker if you buy direct is that the resale value is diminished as shown in my example.

Thanks. Just wanted to confirm my understanding. I was super excited for Lakeshore. But I would have to buy direct. It would be my only DVC resort. I’ve been on the fence but diminished value for resale kinda puts a nail in that coffin. I REALLY want to stay there though. This is 100% my vibe.

Oh yes, that is an important distinction. Missed this the first pass through:
