Rented Citi Mini Double for two trips and LOVED it both times. Perfect for Disney in our opinion.
On our most recent trip (March 9 - 16, 2019), we saw these in every park we went to, so they are allowed. I think they are a wagon and are not a stroller, and therefore should not be allowed, however before anyone blasts me, it is my opinion and based on how big they are and almost getting run over by one.
Same. We rented a stroller when DD was 5 in 2017. We used it one day and then we left it in the room and went on without it. It was much preferred for all three of us.
I completely agree with you. It is unfair to say āno wagonsā but then allow these because of the technicality that they CAN be pushed (although they can also be pulled and I have seen them being pulled at local events)
We bought two cheap umbrella strollers one year and bought stroller connectors so they basically converted to a double. It also allowed us the flexibility to split up. That year we were really concerned about long walks in the airport too so we wanted something we would have with us.
Other years we rented the double or single stroller in the parks for the convenience of not having to lug a stroller around outside the parks.
Are you driving to the parks? If not, my biggest concern would be how are you going to get the wagon on and off the bus?
The Keenz folds like a regular stroller.
We got back a few weeks ago from our first trip with an almost 3 year old and a 5 year old. I saw the Keenz strollers in the park, so theyāre definitely still allowed in. We rented the Citi Mini Double and it really wasnāt bad - the biggest hassle was when stroller parking was a ways away. Navigating it through the crowds wasnāt really a problem, and we were there on fairly high crowd days - our Hollywood Studios day in particular was a 10. Itās also really nice for the parade to have seats for the kids - you can line up behind the people at the curb, the kids are slightly elevated, and then you can stand behind the stroller and still have a great view.
I thought the new guidelines restricting these was announced this week?
The statement made was that they were enforcing the original guidelines, but then @Len said some dimensions that donāt correlate with the existing guidelines, so no one is sure if it was a typo or if they are changing. I do know that the company that rents out the keenz has released a statement saying that they reached out to WDW CMās and they said off the record that they have been advised that Keenz will NOT be banned in the parks when this rolls out and that they are considered a stroller, not a wagon because they fold like a stroller, they have restraints like a stroller and they are pushed like a stroller. They are also under the size limit on their website.
I have never used one, and i donāt really want to, but i donāt get all the hate. They actually have a smaller footprint than some double strollers.
I was told that thereāll be new dimension restrictions, and those new dimensions are what I listed.
Iām also told that parents who bring an oversize stroller will be given a voucher for a free stroller rental. Iām not sure if thatās official policy or an idea.
Thanks for the clarification!
Iāll guess if they do that, it will be very temporary. Otherwise, folks will simply purposely bring an oversized stroller just to get a free stroller rental when they otherwise wouldnāt use such a stoller. BUT, I can also see initially people being upset because they thought their stroller would be allowed and it no longer is.
At any rate the Keenz 7s is 19.5wx26Lx44H so still not outside of the existing or potentially new size limits. I donāt think that Keenz are going to be banned. Main Street Strollers has a real dog in this fight so to speak and they have stated that they have confirmed they are good for the parks going forward but will offer at 100% money back guarantee if they get turned away. Since its their business on the line i canāt imagine theyād make promises and statements like this if they were not confident they were going to be ok.I honestly think the Keenz is perceived as bigger than it really is.
Hereās my 2Ā¢. If you know your kids will need a stroller (and it sounds like you KNOW), bring a stroller with a seat for both. My then-7yo sounds like yours, we didnāt have one for him but had two for his younger brothers and a wrap so could carry the 1 or 3yo and that definitely happened multiple times. We personally did what someone else suggested, had 2 āumbrellasā with stroller connectors. We never connected them and loved being able to go single file through crowds, but that was before I knew to try SDFP. Through crowds I personally would want my stroller to have both a very narrow footprint (single file through waiting parade crowds etc) but also high maneuverability/turn radius. I would think the Keenz wagon turn radius would be bad. This is why we like 2 Maclaren Volos. This doesnāt help you hang on while looking at phone, but maybe thatās not the best idea anyway? I end up still running in to people that way. See if you can try a Keenz wagon locally to help you decide. Good luck!
Oh yes, and sometimes we were asked to take everything underneath strollers out, and other times just asked if it was all sweatshirts and wraps and waved through. I didnāt like being waved through. This was Nov 2016.
@ninjasherrie, thanks for this info:
Thatās good to know!
Based on the above info, @Laura_hastings, if youāre renting from Main St Strollers, maybe stick with the Keenz if you think itāll be best for your group. If WDW wonāt let you in with it, then you could switch to the Citi Mini.
Iām with you. I donāt understand why people seem so much more fired up about these things than a typical double stroller. I very much doubt that they cause more problems than one. And neither a typical double stroller nor a keenz have to cause many problems at all if the people handling them are careful, which Iām betting the OP would be.
Unless they are out of CitiMinis because of people reserving the wagon-but-not-really-because-you-can-push-it Keenz and getting turned away if in fact the report earlier in this thread that they will be no longer allowed is true. Then youāre stuck - yes, you get your money back, but you have no stroller.
I thankfully have not encountered them in Disney parks yet, but I have seen multiple people using them in NYC and I can assure you they were NOT pushing them. They were pulling them and making them tripping hazards (of course I feel the same way about rolling luggage or backpacks in crowded areas). While the OP may well intend only to push it, Iām sure there are more than a few people who have pushed them just far enough to get in and then changed to pulling them. Clearly something is happening for Disney to rethink allowing them.
Thanks for your insight, @lizzieanne771. If the problem is people pushing them, it would be really nice if there could be some sort of CM enforcement of pushing⦠though that would be onerous on the CM, Iām sure. Iāve never used a wagon anywhere other than our backyard, so I donāt have skin in the game so to speak, but I always find it sad when everyone has to lose out on an option because some folks arenāt considerate.
True. Do you know how much of a risk that is? I mean, how often do the rental places run out of strollers to rent? I wonder how likely that would be to happen.
I suppose worst case scenario, one could always rent a WDW stroller. I donāt think they ever really run out, do they?
I do not know how large the risk isā¦but I would imagine they do not have an unlimited supply.
If I can be so bold, Iād like to return to the original thread topic, but the second part, where it says, āgoing bagless.ā
Regardless of whether you use a stroller or not, it is possible to go baglessā¦or effectively bagless. I, for example, always use cargo shorts to stash items (as long as the cargo pockets have closures). We also use a small string bag that can be stowed in a pocket easily when not in use, but available when we need it. While this isnāt technically bagless, we find the use of a string bag completely unobtrusive most of the time.
My kids have clip on waist belts that hold their Epi-Pens. Basically a SUPER DUPER miniature fanny pack specifically designed for such things. Our sunblock (Badger brand) is small enough that I can keep it in any number of pockets.
