Let me ask this way: before you go to any other hotel anywhere else in the entire world - besides a Disney World hotel, where we are crazy enough people to carry rulers and measuring tapes and scales and so forth to provide the level of detail that we all love - do you get that information before booking or do you just go and see how it is?
Good point.
I love that we as fans get this level of detail, but then it leads to these in my opinion silly modifications to plans without people experiencing it for themselves. How long did I not go to Tony’s town Square because I heard it was terrible without ever having gone? Like a decade! It was silly and maybe it was not good back then, but our meal was wonderful! I’m just suggesting we don’t do this with anything else in our lives And the detail that we love can sometimes be a detriment
It does look like a different cabinet than in the Riviera - the headboard isn’t slanted out like in the Riviera, and the Riviera cabinet has the little pockets for cell phones or whatever.
But then again, I do have a Premium View. And I do love the artwork.
OK… I’ll stay put.
Yay!
Good for you!
And if it sucks, you will choose not to stay there again ---- but I’m betting it will not suck
Thanks!
It’s going to be fun - 4 days at WDW (with Epcot After Hours on the first night), the Brightline train to Fort Lauderdale, and 4 nights on the Disney Dream going to Castaway and Lookout!
This was us. Then I went and we enjoyed it. I haven’t been back and I do think I have a negative impression based off of the continued Tony’s bashing, lol.
I need to give the a go again.
Off topic but one thing I will say is that the garlic bread and mozzarella sticks were worth the visit to Tony’s. Maybe next time I will skip the entrees and just do appetizers.
I spent an hour staring at a picture and googling reviews last night, to decide if Maggie could handle a specific sofa bed in Paris for 5 nights.
Two nights or less, I don’t worry. But she always ends up on sofa beds and couches because it lets us book King rooms with couches well after two bed rooms are booked up, so I try to be sensative.
I booked it, it could be terrible. But rooms and beds in European countries can be tiny. This hotel looks so charming and gets great reviews so I went for it.
To tie back to your Disney reviews point - after my lovely brunch at Cape May, I will always try places for myself. Especially of the price is right.
I think that’s slightly different since you’re trying to assess for yourself based on a set of concerns you come to the booking with, vs booking and being quite happy only then to have that bring questions based on perhaps slightly different measurements of mattresses which may or may not mean a thing at all.
I agree that we thoughtfully choose where we stay no matter where we travel.
And I hope Maggie is comfortable with the accommodations you’ve arranged!
That is an excellent distinction.
She is pretty easy going, so I try! We may stay at a place run by the same people a little closer to the city center - that one she would get a connecting room, which would be a first!
I’m sure she would love it!!
The other one has a lovely garden where you can eat breakfast and she was actually torn. I swear if there had been a cat in one of the pictures she would have chosen the sofa bed.
Rightly so!
And dessert. Tiramisu,
As a point , our mattress in San Antonio Hampton Inn wasn’t the MOST lux mattress. But it wasn’t bad by any means- just unmemorable. This hotel was very new. Usually anything Hilton and the mattress are great. But I guess if I read reviews saying the mattress wasn’t Hilton best, I would have thought about another place. But I thought the location and price was very nice for on the Riverwalk in San Antonio.
I’m glad I’ve started thinking objectively with people’s reviews.
Re: Paris hotels for 3. A friend recommended the Hotel Bradford Elysees b/c they have family rooms - 2 rooms - and/or also offer cots. We didn’t stay there b/c we used Hyatt points, but if you are looking at hotels, sending along the rec.
I do think at one time they were family owned but looks like they are now part of a larger hotel group.
Thanks! I will check them out!
