Island Tower @ Polynesian

Admittedly this is all pretty unscientific as I zoom in on random stock photos lol.

ETA: Poly duo studios are not pictured on the DVC site.

I napped on the pull-down bed. It seemed the same to me as the standard bed. I think it’s the photo.

Here’s a clip from your video. The pulldown mattress looks thinner, judging by the corner tucks on the sheet. But it’s tough to judge without a ruler or other standard (such as the cell phone). And of course comfort is very subjective. It might well have been comfortable for you.

How interesting. The DVC pic is exactly what I slept on last night. Having paid rack rate, I expected the pic on the main WDW website.

The pics in the promotional brochures we were given yesterday on the DVC tour (one brochure specific to Island Tower and one brochure specific to Riviera), also showcase the thicker, deluxe mattress on the pull down. The DVC sales folks at the Island Tower (pretty sure 3 are now avoiding eye contact with me, lol) have no answer for the bait and switch.

Jordan, a CM manager type in the Tower lobby, said he would look into it and get back to me.

This is very strong language

Why, yes. Yes, it is strong language, deservedly so for $2,000/night at a brand new resort.

Is this what you mean by “main WDW website”? First, it looks computer generated but also clearly also a thinner mattress on the pull down.

But they don’t change anything for someone booking a DVC room on cash.

If you book a DVC room, that’s what you get.

Anyone been to the Wailulu Bar & Grill in the new year? Appears to still be walk up only. Wondering when that may change?

My understanding is there are not plans to change it but to keep it same format as Geyser and Three Bridges

Well poop. I was all excited about my Duo Studio Premium View for August. I loved the Tower Studio in the Riviera.

May have to rethink this. I know there are Towers at Riviera available - for less - for my pre-cruise stay. Or other places I have not stayed yet. I honestly don’t have to stay Deluxe or Villa even since I am not there over an Extra Evening Hours M or W. Hmm… I need to have a think.

I’m lost in the thread. Why are you rethinking?

The mattresses being less than the other murphy bed mattresses.

And also $$-wise realizing I’m not there over an Extended Evening Hours I’m not sure I could justify a Villa (or Deluxe).

Or maybe I should say, “Not sure I SHOULD consider a Deluxe or Villa Resort dollar-wise” - especially since I’m working on building up my savings.

I do not believe we have a tower studio comparison to the duo studio yet. Just a regular deluxe studio.

I’ve tried watching videos to compare. It would be easier if the sofas had the same style arms - the Riviera Tower mattress is definitely higher than the arm rest while the Poly Tower Duo is at the level of the arm rest. But since they aren’t the same it is hard to tell.

It’s deceiving looking at a picture without a measurement. The amount of mattress visible on the murphy gives the illusion of it being smaller, but there’s a base that it recesses into, so that needs to be visually added to the height. I’m not disputing the in person experience noted above with the cellphone.

Thanks.

I’ve found a couple of videos of people who have stayed in them and the first one said that the mattress is a bit thinner than a regular mattress - which is different from the Riviera. I’m watching the second video I’ve found right now.

I am unclear about what has changed?

The mattress and it possibly being a smaller mattress than in the other murphy beds.

I’m watching some stay review videos to see what they all say. It will be better if I can find one where someone has stayed in both Poly Tower Duo and Riviera Tower Studio to compare them.
