Is FoP really all that?

Same. Any anything less than 2 or 3 feet…I use my bifocal lens!

Ahhh. I have a longer range. About 15’ and I start to struggle a bit.

Sivako! I agree 100%! GOTG is more fun, Tron is more thrilling, but FOP is the most exhilarating. I love it and would not miss it. We usually RD because I just like RD. But I would wait at the end of the day too. One Easter week, we got in line right before closing and when we came out it was dark and we were able to enjoy the bioluminesence (sp?).

It’s possible you have some degree of stereoblindness. Have you noticed depth perception issues in other situations (playing tennis, catching a ball, pouring liquids, etc)?

No. My depth perception is great actually. Just 3D movies are problematic.

When I was young I wanted to be able to fly. Even as a young adult I jad dreams that I was swimming in the air.

As it turns out I did not dream about ridimg the transportation system of the future as imagined in the past.

Me, too! It was so frustrating, though. In my dreams I could fly…as long as NO ONE was watching me. I actually wrote a short story where that was a plot element…the character could fly as long as no one was watching them. So they could never actually prove to anyone they could actually fly.

Nor did I. But…alas, I still consider PeopleMover my favorite ride in all of WDW. I’m weird, I know. (No, really…I really DO know. No need to point it out further! )

Alicia Stella recently reposted a story about how they updated the projection so it’s not as blurry! They also updated the screens in the preshow.

100% this.

The first time I rode FOP, in 2017, it blew my mind. My two fantasies: being able to fly and exploring an alien planet in safety, and you do both.

I’ve ridden it many times since then and there’s always a point where I realise that I’m experiencing pure, childlike joy.

I do sometimes find the picture isn’t as sharp as I’d like it to be and I get pulled out of the immersion for a moment. I’ve never had any kind of motion sickness on the ride and I do get (a little) motion sick on rides like EE and GOTG (I guess because I don’t do spinning).

Why do you think you’re so vigorously locked in?

Oh come on, you two! What incredible imagineering to conceive of such a thing and then make it happen!

And everything at WDW is fake! That’s the point!

Yes…but the breathing FEELS fake…so rather than immerse me, I find myself annoyed at this fake obviously mechanical motion.

I did ride it once where the breathing wasn’t working, and I found it a better experience.

I didn’t realize it was motion, but they would have to lock you in to prevent someone from trying to stand up and risk falling down into the theater area.

But the fact that it DOES move makes sense even more!

Yeah, I guess I’ll give you that one. I do find I have to make an active effort to suspend disbelief with the breathing. Though I usually don’t notice it. I give my banshee a good old squeeze at the beginning to feel it, and then I let go and focus on the flight.

I will spare you the dream analysis on this  I wonder how many kids dream about this? For me, I could literally swim in the air. Like swimming, not flying. Which is too bad because flying would be way more fun.

I do love FOP! But I just rode it two weeks ago and I still found it blurrier than I remembered. I’d still choose to ride!

ETA or my eyesight is just worse lol

The post I saw about them updating it was within the past three days, so you’ll have to try again!
