I'm not sayin it's hot in Florida right now but I just saw 2 hobbits throw a ring into Bay Lake - A "What Was I Thinking" Trip Report

 Ya’ll really should be questioning my sanity. I am.

:fire: It’s end of July and I’m going to Disney. I swore to never go in July (or August and September) ever again. I’m leaving the swealtering heat and high humidity for… you guessed it… even MORE sweltering heat and high humidity.

:face_exhaling: And I hate change, have high levels of anxiety with the unknown and I’m going just days after the new LL system is rolling out. BY DESIGN PEOPLE! :woman_facepalming:

I have no logical reason to pick the season closest resembling the vast Lake of Fire. We’re middle-aged, empty nesters that have grown accustomed to AC. We normally don’t rope drop and rarely stay till park close.
What could go wrong? :running_woman::man_running::luggage:

:clipboard:
Who: DH and I
What: 3 day Park Hoppers with a Water Park visit on departure day
Where: Pop Century
When: Saturday, July 27th - Tuesday, July 30th
Why: :joy: Question of the Month my friends

THE Plan:
:spiral_calendar:
Day 1 we fly into MCO on a 5am flight from MSY. We touch down around 8am. Will head to Epcot and park hop to HS with a maybe dinner at Mama Melrose. That is our busiest day by far with no mid day break. DH might throw a fit. I did promise mid day breaks. After that I’m sure we will have already had just enough of this glorious Florida July weather.

Day 2 we sleep in, hit the pool and head to MK in the afternoon with HDR that evening. DH always comments how fun it was and how it’s a Disney thing worth the money. He keeps asking why we don’t go. He’s been. I haven’t. He doesn’t know yet. Wonder if I should tell him.

Day 3 we hit AK early, not RD early mind you. But like 8:30? That’s early enough, trust me. We will leave around lunch time and hit the pool back at Pop, maybe get a nap in and then head to Epcot that evening. No big plans at Epcot. We may not even do GotG! I can’t believe I just said that out loud. I want to finally have dinner in San Angel Inn. I absolutely love the setting. And no Disney trip is complete without a boat ride in Mexico. I don’t think we have had one trip where I missed it.

Day 4 we head to Typhoon Lagoon. I’ve never made it to a Disney water park. I generally don’t go to water parks. Too many kids peeing in the pools. But I figure it will be so hot and I’ll be just D.O.N.E by that time, I won’t even care. We fly home that evening at 5:30pm because PTO is running out, lol.

:white_check_mark: A lot of the new LL system has been tested. If there are any more questions come this weekend I hope to do my part and test a little. So far I’m not sure I like this better than Genie+. The major selling points so far are pre-booking and return window selection. So we will see how I like it. I feel like I’m still going to have to use some hacks to make it worth my while.

:flight_departure: We leave tomorrow morning. I paid for premium parking at the airport. $100 but WELL worth it. I can be in TSA security line in under 5 minutes from the garage. That early there was no real security line to speak of and we were AT THE GATE in under 10 minutes from parking. Southwest don’t fail me now!

DS16 and I have gone every year in July for the past 6ish years. We got back Saturday. It was the most insane, cannot breathe, sweating, nothing helps to cool you off, trip we have ever had. We’ve been having a heatwave in NC and temps were the same. It was hard to even complete a thought. My son asked me to calculate something last week and I turned to him and said “it’s too hot to do math”. This was not a typical July.

Sorry, that’s probably my fault.
I just got back last weekend and I was supposed to bring the sunshine home with me, but my suitcase was too full of American junk food :woman_shrugging:t4::laughing:

Did you already do your LL prebooking since you’re within seven days?

I did. But I’m counting on using some drops and modifying some things. Also taking advantage of the 119 min late arrival grace period (mainly for HS).
Here’s what I have now.

I concur, at least in FL. Here in WI we are having a reasonable July for a change, I’m a little afraid of what August may get up to!

This is the best title for a trip report ever.

We went in July once. I told my husband, If I ever say I want to go to Disney again in July, remind me of how I’m feeling now.
Then we went again and I said the same thing.
He said, I TOLD YOU SO and you made us go again anyway.

I’ve already forgotten the heat, swamp surface of the sun.

I really should know better :joy: But this was the year of the AP and it expires in November. I had to cut my Halloween trip short because DH wants to go to Mexico too. We don’t travel mid August through the first week of October becuase of Hurricane season. We have to be home if a storm comes our way. Well I can evacuate but DH can’t.
So why not!?!
(I’m sure I will be able to answer that question in about 5 days :joy:)
