I promise, I'm actually going to DLR this time!

Oh good! The LLSP’s at DLR are really not bad at all! And for RotR you go straight to the Rey room. Definitely worth the 30-40 minutes of saved time!

It looks like World of Color routinely has a 10:15pm show. The park closes at 10pm. How does this work? Do you choose which show you want when getting a VQ? Are VQ’s required or a way to ensure a viewing space?

TP only lets me plan for the 9pm show. If I could arrive at 9:15pm - 9:30pm for the 10:15pm show it would really help me. I could do a third GotG ride and see Cars Land after dark without stress.

No need for a VQ or package for the second show. I watch it frequently from the bridge to Lamplight Lounge and get there no earlier than 9:45pm and usually there is hardly anyone on the bridge. The second show is almost never crowded and front row is easy to get on the bridge. I personally think the view is the best there is, as you are up high and don’t have to try and see over other people.

AWESOME! This is the kind of stuff I need to know. I’m surprised they don’t rope it off to close the park.

No they don’t rope off the bridge, but you won’t be able to go past the bridge (like to Incredicoaster area) after 10.

I didn’t want to give you false hope to plan for the later show, so I left out anything about the later 10:15pm show when we talked about WOC about upthread. But if they do have one, then Wahoo’s advice is perfect. And for the later show you don’t need to show up the 30 min + earlier like for the 9pm show. The bridge is a great view and the only reason we don’t ]do it, is because we have a spot we like in the VQ section with a lower railing that our younger kids can see over and still gives a beautiful view that’s easy to get out of with navigating our stroller. The view from the bridge gives you a great full length view of the fountains.

As for the VQs, you can’t pick. They distribute the the 9pm show fully, then 10:15pm. So you have to wait for all the 9pm VQs to get given out before the 10:15pm will become available. So when we want to watch the 10:15pm show we have to play catch and release on the VQs until we get one for the 10:15pm show (you can’t see which show you’re getting when you click Join Queue so you get it, check what show it’s for, cancel it and repeat until you see the 10:15pm show). Sometimes it takes only 15-20 min from when the VQ starts, and other times it’s 3-4 hours. And on those days when it takes longer, you likely wouldn’t even need a VQ to watch the show from the viewing section for the later show. But since we like the spot we like and are not a small group, I just always make the effort to get the VQ if we want to watch the later show.

And then for how the show works with park close at 10pm. The queues and front gates all close at 10pm (so if you’re hopping from DL for the 10:15pm show you do have to make sure you get to DCA before 10pm). But as long as you’re in the park you can watch the show from around the Lagoon. Then once the show ends they sweep guests out at the rate that the stragglers leave the farthest viewing sections take to move towards the entrance. And they will likely have already swept parts of the Lagoon around Inside Out/ferris wheel area, possibly also TSMM so you wouldn’t be able to walk back that way.

Basically, if there is not a 10:15pm show I don’t do GotG again and I’m back on track. I’ll still get to see the 9pm show.

My new plan gets me done with Incredicoaster around 9:20pm then going to WoC for the 10:15pm show.

Either WoC at 9pm or 10:15pm still allows me to see all the major attractions of DCA that day. I’m just being greedy / hopeful for that extra GotG and it truly being after dark in Cars Land by getting to do the show later

The show is so short. It’s cute and all. And Black Widow saw me wearing my Black Widow shirt and I totally fan-girled. But it isn’t much.

Should I “make time” to see Mickey and Friends Cavalcade? I enjoy parades and shows, but after seeing this offering on YouTube it looks pretty meager… I like floats and parades, but this looks like one bus with about 10 dancers /characters following it… It could still be fun though, right???

  • Yes! Stop and see the cavalcade
  • No! Go do something else

I’m not really one to wait for parades. They’re fun if you happen to be walking by. This one in particular seems uninteresting.

If they were having the Magic Happens parade, I would recommend waiting for that. It’s awesome. But the cavalcade is very short and not worth going out of your way for.

Yeah… That’s my thought as well. I got excited when I saw a “parade” on the schedule. Then I actually witnessed on YT what it really is…

Thanks for the input! I’ve decide to put in a 1:30pm break at Jolly Holiday Bakery. If the cavalcade is going past while I’m there then I’ll pause to watch.

That’s a perfect plan! The other place you might get a fun little bit of it is when they move backstage by it’s a small world. I keep seeing so many many many shorts/reels/tiktoks of the villains hamming it up as they disappear behind that door. But it’s still certainly not enough for me to recommend purposely planning to be there. Unless Maleficent or Evil Queen is your girl and you worship her.

She is! I want her to be so mean to me! (but I have issues!)

If there was going to be a true parade I would’ve watched from IASW. I’ve heard that’s the best place to be

She is really fun to encounter! If you want to try for interactions with her, walk along Matterhorn Way often and be on the lookout for her. She hangs around there on the pathway somewhere between Pixie Hollow and Alice but could even venture into the castle courtyard/Carousel/Peter Pan area by by way of the Wishing Well, or up towards it’s a small world. So keep your eyes peeled around all those areas.

RotR definitely closes by 10:00 pm.
WS has a great SR line (has been a walk on for us every time this week).
WOC at 10:15 is no problem for viewing. There are spots everywhere.
Cavalcades are “meh”. Mostly one float and some dancers.
The xx:52 and xx:57 drops are amazing at DLP. Makes all the difference.
Now, a break at Jolly Holiday is a great plan anytime of day.
You are going to have a great trip!

If the poll hadn’t done it, your decision was made for you … just saw on Scott Gustin’s Twitter that the last day for Avengers Assemble is April 5th.

Thanks for letting me know. The lack of live entertainment at DLR is so disappointing.

I’m really trying to get hyped for DLR, but it’s difficult when there are so few unique offerings compared to WDW and I was just there.

I’m stressing about planning and such compared to Knott’s and Universal where I can just “show up.” Plus, both of those parks have more entertainment/performers than DLR.

I’m still planning on going, but feeling kinda “meh” about Disney again. This is definitely my last Disney trip for the foreseeable future. If DD23 ever wants to do a day at DHS to try RotR and MMRR in the next 5+ years we can visit. Other than that though I’m back to being “done” with Disney

My perspective is usually the opposite! There are so many things unique to DLR. It’s the Best Coast after all. California Adventure blows HS out of the water in my opinion.
Sorry you are feeling down on Disney. When you get there, hopefully you will see all the amazing new things that are there and be excited!

As for live entertainement, there are characters walking around and the Disneyland Band is fantastic.

And you really don’t need to plan to much extent in DLR, it’s a much more laid back type of Disney than WDW.
