When typesetting mathematics, there is a special character for the minus sign −
This is not – and never should be – a hyphen.
But neither is it an en-dash or an em-dash.
The difference is subtle.
The minus sign is set so that it lines up with the horizontal bar of the plus sign + −
En-dashes are not aligned with plus signs + –
And they have a lighter weight − –
Em-dashes are too long.

I admit that my life appears pretty Disney-like on the surface. But there is always stuff bubbling underneath that people don’t see.
And I guess if you think about it, Bambi’s mom was shot, Dumbo’s mom was put in jail, Cinderella was mistreated, and Belle was held prisoner. Disney movies are more about rising above (whatever that looks like), not necessarily being spared heartache and hardship.
