Me neither! But IMO a hot tub and a cocktail at the end of a busy park day is just the thing. And I appreciate when it’s just the grownups at that point
So all you guys are the Disney Adults that AJ Wolfe (DisneyFoodBlog) was talking about in her latest book
. My self included!
My kids like to go to the hot tub with us. Usually they just put their feet in. If they get all the way in, I am closely monitoring them to make sure they are taking up as little space as possible, because I worry we are impeding on other guests. I also make sure we don’t overstay our welcome and let other guests have a turn. We don’t go if it is already crowded.
I liked at Wilderness Lodge how there is a slightly hot tub next to the actual hot tub. There were fewer people there so the kids could be there while we kept an eye on them. Actually I think it would be nice to have a “warm tub” near the hot tub so parents could keep young children nearby but out of the hot tub. Just an idea …
For the record, I’m not anti-kid (have nephews & nieces), I just don’t think little ones should be using hot tubs as swimming pools if there are other adults present. The risk of a child slipping, falling and getting seriously injured or having their body overheat due to the temp of the water being high. I would like to see WDW resorts add signage & enforce an 18+ usage for hot tubs. My max is 15-20 minutes, due to medical reasons, before I need to get out of the hot tub. I am always very respectful of other guests. The hot tub at POFQ is tiny & can get cramped pretty quick before toddlers & kids start jumping in & out, splashing & kicking other guests.
Thank you to everyone for not

I am all for having areas that are adults only. When we were at the Dolphin earlier this year, I was having issues with my ankle and calf that the hot tub helped to loosen up and more than once, there would be kids that would come playing around in the hot tubs, despite signs posted that it was for 16 and older.
Same here! After a busy day of walking around the parks, it’s nice to take a moment and relax in the hot tub. It allows me to decompress and has given me the opportunity to meet other Disney adults.
Dolphin will enforce it though. I’ve seen it in action. Disney… will alert the manager or something.
I agree with you, except perhaps about this point. I think 18+ is a bit extreme. I mean, I get that teens can be rash, but they tend to be rash in the presence of peers and less so in the presence of adults. I think plenty of older teens can be allowed in the hot tubs. But I’d be in favor of a 12+ limitation or even 15+.
If Disney had known adults-only areas, that might be different. Disney has, instead, “quiet pools”, which is their version of adults only areas, but without really being so.
Cruise ships have adults-only areas where those under, say, 16 aren’t allowed (other than to walk through). I’m not sure Disney can really get away with that so easily being that it is SO family oriented. They might be able to convert their quiet pools to adults-only if the resort has them, though. (Most do, don’t they?)
I wonder if they don’t enforce it bc they get pushback that 10 and over is a “Disney adult.” I can see cast members having to listen to unaligned parents, and deciding they don’t want the hassle.
Yeah but when they order a margarita it’s another story.
Wait. If I don’t order any adult beverages, can I get child ticket prices then? ![]()
ROFL! ![]()
I totally get everyone’s perspective and don’t think anyone is anti-kid. I also don’t like having other people’s kids in the hot tubs.
But for me selfishly I would be against limiting hot tubs to over 18 in the family pool area. I would be in favor of restricting quiet pools and hot tubs to 18+ though. Disney needs to make larger hot tubs in general and have more quiet pools.
That said, if they did make it 18+, it would make it easier for me to tell my kids no! ![]()
I hope no one here has flamed you anywhere. We generally don’t tho there is the occasional exception.
Or have 2 hot tubs- a family one near the main pool and a 16 and over in the quiet pool section or sectioned off from the main pool section (and gated with a sign saying adults only pool).
Exactly!
agreed - I would prefer more adult only areas for the adults who prefer child-free experiences, but in the family areas I don’t bat an eye at well-behaved kids spending some time in the hot tub.
I don’t much like hot tubs, because when I get out, I am SO COLD.
Resorts should have at least one adults only hot tub plus a family hot tub.
I agree on the pool heating issue. When were at the four seasons next to the Aulani eight years ago, they hadn’t heated their primary oceanfront pool. It was over Thanksgiving, it was frigid. Not even swimmable for anyone forget Littles. So the family hot tub was overrun because that was their only outlet. However, The Four Seasons had an adults only pool and several adults only hot tubs around the property.
I’ll admit I have reached the stage of life where, if I am in a hot tub (or wherever) and the kids are goofing around, I have no qualms just saying something like, “Hey, guys, this here is for relaxing not splashing or swimming.”
If the parents are embarrassed…I am perfectly fine with that.
Same. I don’t mind gently “correcting” children when the guidance is needed.
