After my last experience, I need to vent a little. Hot tubs at the Moderate, Deluxe & DVC locations are not kiddie pools! I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been to a hot tub to relax, only to find families with toddlers & little kids using it like it’s a splash pad Kids running around, screaming, jumping in & out, splashing & kicking other adults while the parents are oblivious to it and not respecting other adult guests that are trying to enjoy this resort benefit. Last visit to CSR, after 10 minutes of being splashed & kicked by 2 toddlers, while mom & dad chatted away (occasionally saying, we’ll get out once you answer 5 questions about mom, dad, Uncle Bob, Aunt Linda, Grandma, etc.) was ridiculous and ended up getting out of the hot tub (along with 3 other couples) and having to leave. Absolutely no respect or common courtesy for anyone else from the parents. A few of us did speak to a cast member by the pool & explained the situation and they said they would speak with the parents as the water is too hot for little one’s to be swimming and that is not what the hot tub is for. Disney needs to add to their signage that hot tubs are for adults only, not only for the safety of the child, but for the respect for other guests.
I don’t mind a kiddo - typically an older kiddo - sitting in there calmly. But those that are in there swimming around and splashing, I am more than happy to redirect myself if the adults are not.
I wish that they would put a hard restriction on the hot tubs, honestly.
I agree. Although, even if they did, I suspect many parents wouldn’t care. I’ve been to many hotels that have explicit signage about kids in the hot tubs…all the while, parents allowing their kids in the hot tubs.
Learn to say “no” to your kids every once in a while, parents!!!
I so agree. Even if the kids aren’t running around and splashing, hot tubs aren’t perfectly safe for kids or for people with certain health conditions. Most places ban kids under a certain age. Usually 18.
This was a issue at the ski resort I went to last winter. The place had two hot-tubs against the side of the building, with a roof but open to view the slopes. It was a really pretty view, but five minutes after we got there the tubs were both overrun by a large family with rowdy kids. The most aggravating part was that this family had to walk past the pool to get to the stairs down to the hot tubs. And when we gave up and went back up the stairs THE POOL WAS COMPLETELY EMPTY.
Plus, hot tubs aren’t that safe for kids anyway. And these ones definitely weren’t, because of how they were built into the side of the building. A fall off the side would have been a six foot drop onto the concrete floor.
I thought it was stronger language… plus I’m surprised that WDW would want to take the liability of little ones in a HOT tub when the common knowledge is that it’s not safe for them
I have been other places that DO enforce it, even in funny places.
I sometimes let my kids experience the hot tub if no one else is around.
This was a beach club in Cozumel. The whirlpool is literally INSIDE the family pool. My kids had barely gotten in when they were commanded to get out. I had never noticed the signage - over by the bar - that had an age limit for the whirlpool of 16 yo or older.
It was just so funny that it was INSIDE the family pool.
if we are at a hotel for the night and we head to the pool and we are the only ones in there, I will let my kids check it out. I rarely use them myself.
In that photo the water was the same inside and out. But we regularly joke about the placement of an adults only space.
I could barely make out a sign from a photo on resortgals website. Under 14 prohibited. In practice, we did see younger children with an adult (presumably uncle/dad). But they were well behaved and only stayed minutes inbetween slide runs.
I let my kids use them for shorter periods of time but they were always better behaved than most of the adults. They knew their hot tub time would be cut short if they misbehaved. I wasn’t the type of parent to make idle threats or give more than 1 warning. I don’t like fussing and fighting so out it would be- even if it meant I had to get it it too. Never had it come to that thankfully.
We had a hot tub at home though and they had to follow those rules at home as well. I HATE getting splashed. My hair is a nightmare.
This actually makes sense to me. If the hot tub is separated from the pool too much, parents can’t relax in the hot tub while also keeping an eye on then kids in the pool.
I’ve always thought that there was a massive market for adult only pool/tubs or even a few hours of adult only- especially at the lighter themed DVC’s like BLT or SS. And I’m not anti-kid - i have 3 ragamuffins myself! But dang, sometimes I sit on our BLT balcony and wistfully stare down at the empty hot tub thinking about going down and relaxing in the hot tub….but knowing as soon as I do somebody with an expanded swim diaper on their butt, and a cannonball on their mind is going to immediately follow me in.
