My friend is currently waiting for a bus at POFQ. She’s thinking uber. I feel terrible, because I was trying to help her.
She goes to WDW every 2-3 years. This trip is just her and her 12 yo DD.
I’d asked yesterday about what time she should wait for the bus and I advised her the responses were to wait for the bus around 7/7:15AM.
Breakfast at POFQ doesn’t even start at the QS until 7AM. So she RD breakfast and is now Ubering.
How do people handle breakfast?
I had been looking at moderates and renting DVC, but now I am thinking All Stars with their 6:30AM breakfast looks really good.
I feel terrible that I endorsed her plan to eat at 6:30AM and catch the bus at 7/7:15AM. It never dawned on me that she couldn’t eat that early.
How do people manage this? I want to help better for tomorrow, her MK day.
To be honest, my family and I do breakfast on the go in the room or on the way to the bus with a plan to grab a great Disney snack in the parks after the first couple of rides. We pack granola bars and jerky or grab yogurt, fruit, etc from the resort shop the night before.
We just do breakfast in the room usually…or sometimes grab a quick service breakfast item once in the park. I don’t know if we have ever had breakfast at a resort food location itself.
Agree with Ryan and Cricket. Unless it’s a planned sit-down brunch later in the morning, we never do breakfast “out.” That’s just time and expense and more chance for chaos that we don’t need in the mornings. We either eat in the room or while waiting for transportation. She could make a grocery run, have some delivered, shop at the resort store the night before, or just wait for a snack item after a few rides in the park.
Another vote for eat in the room or on the go! We generally grab something from the resort quick service the night before (yogurt parfait, muffins, croissants, etc.)
Pop Century’s QS used to be open early enough for a pre-rope drop breakfast but on our last stay didn’t open until 7 am. The only resort QS we’ve had be open before 7 on recent trips was the Mara at AKL.
We never eat breakfast at the resort before going to the parks. Sorry, I didn’t realize that was part of the plan. I hope she ends up having a great day!
Also, if they don’t want to bother with a grocery delivery or run, they could snag some grab and go items the night before to have with in the room or to take along on the way to the park
Thank you for the responses. I feel a little stupid that I just assumed people were eating before they got on the bus.
They are just there for four nights with TL yesterday, HS today, MK tomorrow, and pool day/shopping Saturday. They got rained out of TL yesterday. She may buy a water park ticket Saturday.
Her goal is to RD and then ride as many rides as possible. That is how I tour, as well. It will be hours before she’s ready for a break.
The bus pulled in as she was ordering her Uber and she got there only a little later than she’d originally hoped. She was a ways back from taps, but they moved quickly over to SWGE. She’s done ROTR, TOT, RNRC and is almost on SDD. She’s in a good place for the rest of the day!
I feel badly I wasn’t able to better prepare her, but you have all solidified my plan to stay at All-Stars! We are definitely a breakfast-before-park crowd. When Marie and I did out Very Budget trip in 2022, which was our first time on property, we brought our toaster from home, and we did eat in the room. But that isn’t something I want to have to do, and it isn’t something she was prepared for.
How far behind the masses will she be if she eats at 7AM tomorrow and then takes a bus to MK? I wonder if she should just plan on Uber. Does uber drop off at TTC or the gates? At least I can help her with that.
We do, just not in a restaurant. Also, if you’re OK with a cold breakfast, no need to pack a toaster. Cereal and milk is easy to get at a resort shop, or we had Clif Bars and protein bars delivered last time. Those are filling enough for us and more along the lines of what we eat at home for breakfast too.
For anyone following along in the future, THIS is a core rule for MK Rope Dropping!!
In today’s WDW environment I would only do a sit-down breakfast for a character meet & greet. Since we are all now 30+, that’s not a thing any longer.
Best strategy for us these days is to get a family suite at ASM and take advantage of the kitchenette/dining table. Its still a cold breakfast (unless you consider instant oatmeal a step above cold), but its a nice rally point for the other rooms to come to and get the morning kicked off early.
