Sure there is. Just depends on your sensitivity to how far and steep a drop is.
Hmm. I have ridden it several times. There is no drop. What drop are you referring to? The bumps? There is a banked turn but no drop.
I think you could conceivably call a “drop” any time it goes down.
I don’t consider any of them particularly steep or frightening, but everyone is different.
I would think the 3 hump hill things near the end are the part of Slinky that gives the most hang time/free fall feeling, which is what I equate most with people not liking drops. It’s only for a second or so at the top of each hill but there are a few in a row. (I personally think that part is fun but worth mentioning for others.) The bigger hills on Slinky go into banked turns which to me makes it easier because the weightless feeling goes quickly into g-force.
Avatar is the one I was going to say to avoid too. There are a lot of moments of free fall feeling and swooping, and the story is random / you can’t plan for where you fly. It is more intense than I thought, and longer than I thought, even after doing my research! Worth it for our family, and it is a must ride for us next trip, but we did see a couple people puking into trash cans on our way out of the theatre.
Visiting with my niece last year who is afraid of most rides. She will ride, but not without coaxing. Her first time on POTC she wanted to know why riders ahead of us were screaming.
I forgot about the drop … ![]()
I do NOT do ToT. I do NOT like straight drops. My anxiety peaks and I feel like I might throw up if my stomach jumps. I hate up/down plane turbulence because I can’t see it coming.
Banked or turned drops are fine and rough rides do not phase me. BTMRR is my favorite. I can do every ride at WDW aside from ToT.
Tiana freaks me out but my kid loves it and it seemed less horrible somehow than in the past. I think the inside pre-drop portion is more fun than Splash and distracted me from the anxiety about the drop.
I have zero issues on GotG, etc. Rise is so quick it doesn’t bother me. EE is probably the other biggest drop but the three bumps portion of Slinky bothers me more than EE because of the banking.
(I had nightmares as a kid after riding Pirates. I was convinced there was as a giant drop. I felt silly for being terrified five years later.)
This is my favorite part of the ride. I love the hang time / weightless feeling. That’s also why Splash / Tiana, ToT, EE, etc. are my favorite rides.

You sound just like me. So I’m happy to hear you’re good with GotG and Rise. Have you been to Universal? How did you do on Gringott’s and Hagrid’s. Any other problems there?
Sadly I’ve only been to Universal Hollywood and it was too long ago to be relevant, probably. We’ll probably try Universal next trip now that my kid is old enough to enjoy more and Universal Epic looks impressive.
This is me and Space Mtn
Which is sad
cuz back in '79 and into the 80s I was so happy to ride it. RnRC came along just as SM was too much.
I could tolerate that ride at AK. Primeval Whirl. My cousin doesn’t do spins. But I talked her into PW and we both could tolerate it. Then we went to Legoland in CA and tried that robot arm. Both loved it. ![]()
This thread gave me the kick I needed to create the thread below (which I have been contemplating doing for a while now):
I was worried about trying Avatar. Then I found stumbled across a Youtube video where the presenter gave tips on riding it. The biggest tip for me was to watch your Na’vi guide. The air blowing in your face also helps. It’s the only 3D screen ride I can do. I get a little queasy, but not too much and I can enjoy the ride.
This. I don’t remember exactly where it was. I remember there being a drop and I IMMEDIATELY regretted getting on the ride. I had watched it before going on and thought it would be OK since I can do Big Thunder.
I have no nausea on FoP but it does sometimes give me a headache. So does Remy. I think it’s the fuzziness of the 3D. Strangely have not had the same issue on Star Tours.
ETA: Maybe I got bad glasses?
The 3D rides are always a bit fuzzy for me because the 3D glasses don’t work very well over regular glasses. I recently tried Remy for the first time. Turned out to be a one and done. I knew there was a strong possibility I couldn’t handle it and I’d have to close my eyes, but even with your eyes closed it’s jerky enough to make me queasy. It’s a great ride and I’d recommend it to anyone who can handle the motion and 3D.
I don’t get motion sick; I just hate the drop feeling in my stomach. Does Avatar have real drops, or is it all 3D? I’m usually okay with the 3D. When I do Forbidden Journey at USF, I close my eyes when it looks like a virtual drop is coming.
FoP is simulated drops. It’s basically a more thrilling version of Soarin/Star Tours but Avatar themed and you sit on individualized seats that mimic sitting on a banshee (they’re similar to the motorcycles on Tron and I think the locking mechanisms behind your back and legs freak some people out).
If you do get queasy, I’ve found it’s neat to look away from the screen at the ride vehicles and see how they operate.
Re: Remy, I’ve heard that they changed the Paris version so 3D glasses are not used and I wonder if that will come to Epcot at some point.
Yes. But you only drop about 4 feet maximum. Your motorcycle-style seat is mounted to a floor that can move up/down and tilt forward/back. The seats tilt side to side.
